Has anyone taken this class at TESC? IF so how was it?

Order the book and have a look at it first.
I enrolled, ordered the book, and decided that proofs were probably going to take more time than I could devote to the course. It's been years since analytic geometry, trig, calc I-III, etc. It's not HISTORY of Math, it's History of MATH. Moved over to Database Management instead.

It's also offered at Empire State College and by BYU (independent study). I took it at ESC and can recommend that course- you'll really learn a lot.

I think I would enjoy it as a self-paced course, but having to push through in a twelve-week term just wasn't do-able in light of the reviewing I would probably have needed to do.

The TESC website says "It is advisable to have taken an introductory college-level mathematics course prior to enrolling in MAT-301." I would think this means the class is not really math intensive but history intensive.
The syllabus says there are 8 written assignments, a midterm paper and a final paper. No exams.
Here are the course objectives:
CO1 Apply mathematical techniques of problem solving.
CO2 Describe the development of mathematics across and within civilizations around the world.
CO3 Explain how different cultures have affected and been affected by the history of mathematics.
CO4 Analyze and critically think about past, present and future mathematical problems.
CO5 Recognize the distinction between formal and intuitive mathematics.
CO6 Research historical mathematical concepts and present the conclusions of them.
CO7 Compare and contrast the mathematical influences on the sciences, engineering, humanities and other fields.
CO8 Present the history of mathematics in written forms.

I'm surprised that that Game Theory course isn't cross-listed as an economics course. Game Theory is also very interesting and has many applications.
If anyone is interested, I can email you a copy of my final paper for the aformentioned ESC course so you can get a feel for what is expected.
