How Long to Transfer Credits from LSU to TESC? - birdandbee - 07-05-2012

Hi All,

I spoke with an adviser about transferring an upper-level Lit course from LSU to TESC and it's been approved.

My question (or rather, my concern) is regarding how long it takes for the credits to actually transfer over. I'm on a comprehensive tuition plan at TESC which ends in late September. I've been told (by an LSU rep) that it could take as long as 9-12 weeks for credits to transfer from LSU to TESC. Is that pretty much the norm? I'd like to sign up for this course and start by next week, but first I want to know if I can even do so as I imagine I would need to be a matriculating student at TESC for them to register the credits (in other words, I'm afraid that if I take the course, and finish up this summer, BUT the credits don't transfer until after I've completed my last comprehensive semester at TESC, TESC won't grant me the credit for it).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks all!
Smile

I would agree, if you take the course and send in the credits after it's done you may not meet your expiration date. If the course is on your degree audit as planned (which I recommend) then I would estimate it takes 4-8 weeks to be brought in. One idea would be to watch for the transcript to be received and then send them an email explaining the situation. Depending on when the course ends (and how long it takes them to give you a grade) you might be able to make it work but you are right, you are running out of time. Although not the cheap option, you can extend your enrollment month by month for a fee of over $200 per month. You also have to be within your enrollment when you apply for graduation so keep an eye on that too.

Good luck.
