Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - GeneralSnus - 07-16-2012 I'm interested in the LSU IS Accounting certificate, however I need to complete the intermediate accounting sequence. I don't want to take the courses through LSU because I would need to take a math prereq first. Will LSU accept Intermediate I and II from Penn Foster on an ACE transcript to satisfy the intermediate accounting prerequisite for the LSU accounting certificate? Thanks, Gen. Snus Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - Tedium - 07-17-2012 For a question like that you would probably want to contact LSU directly. Just send them an e-mail through their contact page. That's what I did when I asked about consortium agreements. Just make sure you tell them that it's Penn Foster and an ACE transcript. Some schools are uppity about Penn Foster. --Tedium (Thunder Snus) Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - Publius - 07-18-2012 Since Penn foster is an actual school and it’s ACE approved odds are they’ll accept it, but it will be best to make sure by contacting them. As for taking Intermediate Accounting I+II via LSU you may want to call LSU’s IS office and talk to them about the prerequisites. While it’s listed on their site as a perquisite, when I spoke to the course instructor for Intermediate Acct I+II, she said that the math wasn’t “required” but was advised, while Financial accounting was required (I believe her name was Sandy). I just wanted to throw that out there in case you wanted to reconsider doing the ACCT through LSU. They don’t hold strictly to the Math requirement but do hold to the Accounting prerequisite. Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - GeneralSnus - 07-18-2012 Thank you both! Publius, I am especially grateful for your response. I would actually prefer to take the course through LSU, but I didn't want to waste time focusing on the math course. Since I do have the first year financial-managerial sequence under my belt, I'll see if I can get into Intermediate. Hopefully they'll give you the same advise and you can go through LSU as want. Best of luck and let us know how it goes. Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - GeneralSnus - 07-19-2012 Alas Publius, I did not receive the same advice you did. I was told the math prerequisite is mandatory for Intermediate. I may just take intermediate through University of North Alabama, or even complete all of UNA's Professional Accounting Prep program. Did you try getting in touch with the person who actually runs the class? Sorry about that... Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - HorseManiac - 07-19-2012 Okay, sorry to hijack the thread with my question, but I was reading over the requirements for LSU's Intermediate Accounting I and the pre-req's are MATH 1431: Business Calculus and ACCT 2101: Managerial Accounting, not Financial Accounting. Am I reading that right or am I missing something? http://reg.outreach.lsu.edu:8080/modules/shop/index.html?action=course&OfferingID=1003 Also, how would you fulfill the Business Calculus pre-req if it is definitely required? Is there a course you could transfer in? Straighterline maybe? Thanks! Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - Publius - 07-20-2012 Okay, my apologies. You are correct, it's Managerial Accounting (ACCT 2101) that is the prerequisite for Intermediate ACCT. I had that confused with Financial Acct because that is what is the prerequisite for Managerial Acct. To straighten it out, Intermediate ACCT II - Prereq: Intermediate ACCT I Intermediate ACCT I - Prereq: Managerial ACCT, and Business Calc Managerial ACCT - Prereq: Financial ACCT Financial ACCT - Prereq: None Note on Financial accounting: LSU no longer accept the CLEP or DSST as a suitable means to fulfill the prereq. As for a course that would satisfy the Biz Calc, I haven't looked around for one so I don't know. Penn Foster Intermediate Accounting to ACE for LSU Prereq? - Prloko - 07-20-2012 I was also interested in the certificate, but I believe you need to already have a bachelor's degree to get the certificate. I may be wrong. GeneralSnus Wrote:I'm interested in the LSU IS Accounting certificate, however I need to complete the intermediate accounting sequence.
