Cedarville University Anybody? - CLEPitgirl - 07-27-2012 Hi everyone! I am looking at potential colleges and I was just curious to see if anybody has heard of / gone to Cedarville University in Ohio. I will be going to my local community college next year, but it doesn't hurt to look at four year colleges now. Does anybody have any positive or negative comments on the college? professors? atmosphere? curriculum? Cedarville University Anybody? - Prloko - 07-30-2012 Have you checked www.ratemyprofessor.com ? Punch in the school in the search, there are 33 student reviews and a whole bunch of reviews on the professors. CLEPitgirl Wrote:Hi everyone! Cedarville University Anybody? - sallygoodin - 08-07-2012 Ok, maybe I'm biased, since I'm going there this fall (actually in two weeks,) and the campus is within four miles of my house, but Cedarville is a great school! The main reasons I chose it (other than proximity to home) are: professors who really care about, remember and pray for their students, and even the prospective students who just come in to ask questions; their great reputation for 'hard' disciplines as well as liberal arts; and the fact that it is a relatively "outgoing" Christian school, i.e, they are very aware that the rest of the world is not going to have the same concentration of like-minded people, and therefore focus on open-mindedly engaging the broader intellectual culture. The reasons you might not choose to come are mainly that we are out here in a very rural area, and the theology taught in their required Bible classes may not agree with the doctrine of your denomination. That said, I hope you come! In Christ, Sallygoodin Cedarville University Anybody? - PonyGirl93 - 08-12-2012 Phew, Cedarville is a lot of money. I know many people who have gone there and almost all of them liked it. However, you have to keep in mind that one semester there is the cost of my entire degree. There are some benefits there, but realistically you do have to weigh them against the costs. There are other (arguably equivalent or better) Bible programs that you could supplement a secular degree with that would cost you immensely less. Just as an example, my church offers a program that is partially ACE-evaluated: Vineyard Leadership Institute that costs truly a fraction of the cost. It's a personal decision, but keep in mind that with just one or two years' tuition you could get a bachelor's degree, do a Bible program like VLI, and go do missions for a while. A lot of students feel it was worth it to go to Cedarville. I never would. Best of luck wherever you go! Cedarville University Anybody? - HorseManiac - 08-30-2012 I know it's been a little while since anyone posted about this, but I was talking with some friends who are planning on attending Cedarville in the future and the main reason they are going is because 1) the college was in their home state and 2) they give scholarships/grants based on ACT and SAT scores so for fellow homeschoolers that was a huge plus. Anyway, I know it's not much, but I thought I'd share it. |
