Need help with TESC plan - sweettea - 07-28-2012 These are the credits that I have been awarded from state schools, which previously were community colleges. I am looking at the BSBA GM through TESC. I was hoping that someone could possibly help me see which tests that I can take to satisfy the requirements. I do understand that I now have to take the Capstone class. I really appreciate any help that can be given. Ps. I have been awarded an AA degree. With the gaps listed below you should look at these items to start and then you have a ton of choices to fill in parts of the management area of study: -Precalc and Stats can be taken as exams or you can try out aleks.com (search this site for more info on ALEKS, an ACE credit source which TESC will accept) -Look at the other posts for this degree to learn how to fill the business core courses -Check out the Management Information Systems DSST, Human Resource Management DSST, Organizational Behavior DSST, and others to fill in the area of study requirements -By my count you are 45 credits away. Here is a rough placement of some credits noting that some credits may fit in more than one place... Unless things have changed, you can also transfer in a strategic management or business policy course. The capstone changes were for the Bachelor of Arts programs. Need help with TESC plan - sweettea - 07-29-2012 Wow! That is alot of credits that I still need to get that degree. I am very surprised and disappointed. I really appreciate all of the time and help that both of you have given me. Need help with TESC plan - cooperalex2004 - 07-29-2012 sweettea Wrote:Wow! That is alot of credits that I still need to get that degree. I am very surprised and disappointed. I really appreciate all of the time and help that both of you have given me. You have a strange mix of credits for having a two year degree, you not only have a nice set of business credits but also an unusual number of general ed credits. Is your two year degree in business or something else? That might explain why you have so many of what will become extra credits on a business degree. If you were to do a liberal studies degree or something else you might find more credits would apply. You would only need 24 more credits if you do a Liberal Studies BA (depending on how things are evaluated and if you appeal them). You would need: 3 credits in Humanities, 3 credit capstone course, 18 credits in general education areas (including 15 credits which are upper level). How's that? You get to use every credit you've earned! Here is what a Liberal Studies BA would look like: English Comp ENC1101 Composition I ENC1102 Composition II Humanities SPC2608 Oral Communication/Speech SPN1120 Spanish I & Lab SPN1121 Spanish II & Lab *NEED another humanities course Social Sciences ECO2013 Macroeconomics PSY2012 General Psychology ECO2023 Microeconomics AMH2010 US History-1877 Nat Sci/Math MGF1106 Math for Liberal Arts I MCB1010 Microbiology & Lab CGS1100 Microcomputer Application Software (Maybe) BSC1005 Survey of Biological Science General Ed Electives (18 credits) DEP2004 Developmental Psychology MAC1105 College Algebra POS1041 US Federal Govt (have “D” in class) (TESC will take a "D" as long as it isn't in English Comp or brings you below a 2.0 GPA) PSC1121 Physical Science MAT1033 Intermediate Algebra HUM2211 Humanities I 33 credits of general ed credits including capstone course (18 must be Upper Level including 3 cr capstone) Capstone Course - NEEDED CLP2001 Psychology of Adjustment EME2040 Intro Education Technology (may need to be appealed in order to count as a CIS course) BSC2085 Human Anatomy and Physiology I & Lab (should be BIO-211 at TESC) HUN1201 Human Nutrition (if you can get them to see it as a BIO course instead of NUT, try coding as BIO-208) NEED 18 more credits of general ed electives (15 will most likely need to be Upper Level) 27 credits free electives BUL1241 Legal Environment Business I (Bus Law I) ACG2022 Principal Financial Accounting MAN2021 Principal of Management ACG2071 Principal Managerial Accounting GEB1011 Intro to Business HSC1004 Professions of Caring SLS1101 College Success Skills HSC1531 Medical Terminology EDF1005 Introduction to Education Degree Plan at BA in Liberal Studies Degree at Thomas Edison State College Need help with TESC plan - sweettea - 07-29-2012 CooperAlex2004: My credits are all over the place ![]() Need help with TESC plan - OE800_85 - 07-30-2012 I gotta say you're not so far off from a BSBA, may as well get it instead of the Liberal Studies. The majority of those credits can be completed by testing, if not all of them. (please, guys, double check if I'm right on these) Managerial Business Communication - Straighterline Business Communication Principles of Finance - DSST Finance Business Law - DSST Business Law Business in Society/International Management - Straighterline Business Ethics (coming soon, would this transfer?), or DSST Business Ethics and Society Business Policy - TECEP Business Policy Intro to Computers - DSST Intro to Computing Intro to Marketing - CLEP Marketing Principles of Financial Accounting - Straighterline Accounting I, or DSST Principles of Financial Accounting Principles of Management - CLEP Principles of Management Principles of Managerial Accounting - Straighterline Accounting II + 6 business electives: you could pick and choose from some CLEP/DSST/Straighterline/TECEP business courses 12 exams/SL courses (which are quite quick), I'd say 9 of them easy, 2 requiring hard study (finance/business law), and the 1 capstone exam (which requires some essays and long form writing) Need help with TESC plan - sweettea - 07-30-2012 Im confused about needing some of these credits, such as Business Law, Principals of Management, and both Accounting credits. I have these classes, so why do I need to test out of them? Thank you!! |
