The most often used taken tests or tests which require more preparation are more likely to have material.

You're probably referring to the flashcards...? As cooperalex2004 stated, the most often taken tests (aka the most popular) are the ones that will the most study material.
The sites he listed are great. Also, if you're a subscribing member, check out the Specific Exam Feedback. EVERY CLEP, DSST, and many TECEPs and ECEs can be found there.

Of course, there is always google. It is a great search engine if you just type in the name of the exam you plan to take, plus include DSST or DANTES.

I just finished all of my CLEPs. I used all kinds of books and study materials, but always the REA guide as a foundation. Next I am on to the DSST exams I need. Is there a basic summary textbook for these also that would be similar to the REA guides? I see some written by Rudman on Amazon, but they do not have very good reviews. Thank you.

Read all of the reviews. The book might be of value for Ethics in America. The risk is that the exam may have been changed after the comments were posted.
Good advice can be found here: Dantes Exams - Free Study Guides at Free-Clep-Prep.com As far as decent books are concerned, there's not a lot available. People who take the art history exam use the REA AP art history book.
Search in these forums. Technical Writing is easy. Many people pass it without preparation. If you've worked in a corporate environment, you're ready to pass it.

It depends on the exam topic. Sometimes there is a good Cliff's Notes, Spark Notes, Idiot's Guide, or Dummies book available for the subject. Other times just the IC flashcards and some recommended websites are all that is needed. Also, it is nice to find some textbook websites with practice quizzes.

If REA ever decided to start making study guides for DSSTs they've already got a good market cause there aren't as many resources out there for DSSTs as there are for CLEPs.
For the DSSTs I've taken I've used:
InstantCert,
Free-CLEP-Prep,
The Wise old Owl guides (only used about 2 of these but they were good),
Dummies or Idiot's guides on the topic,
and have gone to the official exam fact sheet, looked at the recommended books, and purchase the the earlier edition (used) and used that to study.
Another thing to keep in mind is that different books and publishers work better for some tests then others. What really helps is going to the Specific Exam feedback and seeing what past users have used to study. If you start seeing a trend where, "I mostly used the Baron's guide to study for the Principles of Finance DSST" and then a couple of "I also used the Baron's guide and it was spot on" then you might want to consider getting it.
There aren't as many study resources out there for DSSTs, but there is just as much information on the topic. Don't let DSSTs scare you because there aren't many things out there... I've actually found them to be easier then CLEPs (generally). There's only for 4 options per question instead of 5 and just the way they ask the question seems easier.
