TESC - Order of classes - scorched - 09-14-2012
Question for people attending TESC..
I read somewhere but now cannot find the reference that classes must be taken in order to get credit.
The example I am concerned about is my English, I took Eng I way back, and a few months back took the DSST for Tech Writing.
According to what I read from TESC, I was required to take I, then II, and then Tech.
So if I attempt II, regardless of where it came from will they count it now that I passed tech?
I will call an advisor if no one knows.. but thought I would check here for a quick answer.

There are colleges that are strict about the order of courses, but this does not sound familiar for the Big 3. Here is an example regarding math by Cookderosa:

If the op is for sure at TESC there is no issue, and even still, technical writing isn't part of a sequence that would cause trouble even if there were sequence rules. An example is taking a calc CLEP today, and then enrolling, and after being granted credit, deciding to go back and take algebra 1. This at TESC is allowed, but some schools say nay-nay.

I appreciate the responses, and it turns out what I read before was some what correct.
After reading through the 2012-2013 catalog and found a new source where it seems that TESC doesn't care, and actually will let you skip some classes.
English is not one of them, as on page 190 it references that english I must come before II, it makes no mention of the II before tech writing however.
But if you pass Calc II, they do not require calc I. Its assumed you can only pass Calc II by knowing the material from I.
You must still take the requisite credit hours but was interesting to find that.
I am going to email the advisors and see what the official requirements are.
Seeing how I already took tech writing, I will ask if I can just take a different writing class of a higher level.

You will still have to take English 2, even if you take a zillion "higher level" courses. English 1 & 2 are required.

Smacks forehead...I should have realized what I was typing..
I guess it was just wishful thinking that overruled my own common sense.
