Luna CC in New Mexico, they even have 8 week semesters for some classes http://www.luna.edu/

Cost Matrix: Tuition Matrix Just a little over $200 for 6 credits. Looks like about $45 in fee's in addition to the tuition. This looks cheaper than Clovis or NMJC by far! $250 for 6 credits, amazing!

Spring 2013 online Schedule: http://www.luna.edu/schedule/?session=SP&year=2013&prefix=WEBCT

Unfortunately there is nothing about the school at Rate My Professors – Find and rate your professor, campus and more – RateMyProfessors.com.

However, there is some data for actual grades awarded by professor and course at https://www.myedu.com/LCC-Luna-Community-College/school/5180/course/by-department/

Actual grades show some favorable outcomes. It is cheaper than in-district community college tuition where I live.

Would this be a cheap way to boost gpa? Especially for grad school purposes?

Depends on what you mean. If you mean boost as in transferring a high GPA, don't count on it cause the GPA won't transfer, just the credit (I don't think EC or COSC transfers the GPA with the grade and I KNOW TESC doesn't... some other folks on here could probably verify the other two). If you're talking replacing a course with a low grade with a transferred course that contains no GPA, then yes.

That is definitely cheaper than Clovis. Do the times mean we have to log in at that time? I will look into luna for summer classes.

Unlike TESC, Excelsior and Charter Oak both transfer in grades. (They even assign grades to the "unrefreshed" DSST exams with two-digit scores. CLEPs and the "refreshed" three-digit DSSTs are treated as credit/no credit.) Additionally, many graduate and professional schools ask for transcripts from all institutions attended, and calculate cumulative GPAs from all institutions for admission purposes.

Yeah, my COSC transcript shows a cumulative GPA, even shows DST and Straighterline grades.

I have sent a couple of e-mails to Luna CC to get some clarification. Too bad LCC limits CLEP to 18 credits, this could have been a cheap and quick way to knock out an AS/AA....the cost still makes it attractive.

In the summer WNMU waives the 6 credit limit and lets you take as much as you like...I wonder if Luna does the same.

For those with a PELL or other grant/scholarship this school could be a real boon!

You could enter LCC's AA/AS degree program and have them administer your Financial Aid. In the case of a PELL grant that would only be a 1/2 grant...but at the cost you would still get a juicy check for the difference and use that money to fund Straighterline and credit by exam.

You could also select say, COSC (or other institution), and manage a consortium agreement. You would have to pay full price at the home institution for 6 credits, then use Luna for the other 6 to make it to full time status...great way to maximize your benefit or just attend full time school via distance at a great discount.

I was under the impression that when you apply to grad schools (in-state schools), they ask you to send in all your transcripts from any college attended. Once received, they calculate your letter grades into a gpa overall or on the last 60 credits. Correct me if im wrong? Would hate to waste money. I have a good gpa but why not throw in a couple A's for a small improvement.
