Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - Publius - 02-19-2013 Alrighty, so I've been asked several times now for my BSBA in Accounting degree plan so here it is... No, I'm not getting tired of the questions or PMs, just thought this would make it a bit easier on people (esp. when it's tricky to send attachments via PM). I've switched out Advanced Accounting and Auditing, though against my initial desire. I replaced them with courses that require only the completion of Intermediate Accounting I (as opposed to II) to save time and in turn money (otherwise, TESC would get get another 3K cause I'd have to re-enroll for another year). Hope this helps! Attached is the excel form:[attachment=586] Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - Can219 - 02-20-2013 Hi Publius, THanks so much for sharing! I really wanted to see your degree plan since we are on the same accounting route! You opened my eyes to other options for a few of the classes.... that don't involve TESC. Do you know how many credits/classes we have to take at TESC to receive the degree? Also I was told I had to take (Managerial/Business Communications MAN373 ) At Tesc. But in a recent email they told me I could do a Straighterline class that would fulfill that requirement. Do you know anything about this? Thanks for any feedback....Do you have a goal graduation date or are you just going along as you have the time? Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - Publius - 02-20-2013 Can219 Wrote:Hi Publius, Sure thing! Technically, you don't HAVE to take anything at TESC and you can transfer everything in. Granted, no classes at TESC means no GPA (if that's a factor for you). Yes, you can fill the Managerial/Business Requirement with the StraighterLine class. If you have the time and money though, it's a great class (the only one I took at TESC) and awesome if you want a high GPA (if you do take the class at TESC then try and get Jim Young). My enrollment ends in the beginning of June, and may have to add an extra month, but I'm trying to finish and file by the July 1st deadline. Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - amilitab4k9 - 02-25-2013 Which courses are you taking that only require Intermediate Accounting I as a prereq? How difficult/involved are the LSU intermediate accounting courses? Thanks for the info. I plan on taking Governmental and Not for-Profit Accounting (ACCT 4421) and Fraud Auditing and Forensic Accounting (ACCT 4235)... both courses are from LSU. So far the Intermediat Acct I course hasn't been that bad. There's plenty of extra quizzes and information to utilize if needed. Thus far, I've liked it. Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - AZDan - 03-26-2013 Thanks for posting as I also plan to get a BSBA in Accounting. Do you mind asking me approximately how much you have spent so far? Did you subscribe to any study plans to help you with the tests? I hope to be transfering about 60 credits so I'm trying to plan out a calendar for me as well and want to know, realistically, how long this will take me. Also, I've been in accounting for about 15 years so I am hoping I can take several of the accounting tests without too much time studying. As far as I recollect there are only very few accounting exams you can take, CLEP financial accounting, DSST accounting, Excelsior financial and managerial accounting. The advanced courses will have to be taken either at a college or through independent study. Since I don't have the time or the funding to take many courses, maybe I am looking at the wrong degree? Are there any other options? Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - Yenisei - 03-27-2013 There's also the Income Tax TECEP as a testing-out option. Degree Plan -- BSBA in Accounting (TESC) - Ubuntu_user - 03-27-2013 I can reassure you that Intermediate Accounting II gets harder than I is. Publius, is what you show above how tesc actually applied each of those tests to your degree outline? I guess there's quite a bit of room for flexibility and doing things different!
