First test schedualed and for some reason I'm questioning my confidence... - Katzepatra - 03-03-2013

:willynilly: So I schedualed to take English Comp on 3/11 - I am confident (was in honors english all through high school), but I'm starting to really get nervous about the harder tests to follow. I've worked in various service industries, even sold cars for awhile (evil job banghead) so I'm good with all the business theory (sales, marketing, management, ect.) but it's the math thats getting to me.

I never thought for a second I couldn't do this but I'm struggling in my current B&M Financial Accounting and Macroeconomics. I'm really wondering if I should keep going with my plans for a business degree. I would like to ultimately work in Social Media Marketing or live events as I work in a ticketing company. I ended up on this forum when I got fed up trying to find a degree that related to those with classes online after having numerous issues with my CC.

I would like to test out of as much as possible and I'm worried about the test for Finance as well as any other math based business classes. I actually have 2 good friends who are professors (one math, one business) and I've had free tutoring from them however when I take the practice tests or try to work with my current homework, I'm not doing well at all. Has anyone else weak in math gone though the Business math with testing and if so, what did you use to study?

I did have a thought of changing to Communications - is it possible to test out of that via TESC? I don't remember seeing a degree plan...

Hey,

First test can do that to folks. It did it to me. In a sense, it's the hardest cause you have no clue what to expect. CollegeComp isn't bad. It will take 2-3 weeks to get your score back, so you won't get that instant gratification of passing and walking out with college credit.

Certain tests have their bad reputation, whether you like the subject or not. That's actually why I've saved Finance for last. Probably not the best idea, but I kept procrastinating. For finance, you do have the option to take a Penn Foster course though.

Yes, Communications is another option.

It will work out, stay the course. With the background you have, you should do great with a ton of the tests! That will really help.

Good Luck!
