CLEP College Mathematics, ahould I panic? - sklineho - 03-25-2013 I'm normally pretty good at keeping my composure. But I NEED to pass this test on Thursday or it could set me back a long time. I'm all but done with my BA. I'm scoring in the 40-50 range on Peterson tests and the 50 was more than 60% luck as I guessed on most. I've been through the feedback thread a dozen times, and I've seen the reassurances there. But I'm nervous, very nervous. I know basic functions and most other BASICS but I'm worried. Should I be? CLEP College Mathematics, ahould I panic? - clep3705 - 03-25-2013 A thorough search reveals that you should NOT have taken the Peterson's tests at all. They are not even remotely like the actual College Mathematics test. Do not look at them again. The CLEP Official Study Guide has a highly representative test. The 2010 version is just as good as the 2013 version. I know, look at my score. CLEP College Mathematics, ahould I panic? - sklineho - 03-25-2013 I know the petersons are harder. Are the function related questions on the final test as complex? You have missed the point completely. It has nothing to do with the Peterson's tests being harder. NOTHING. For this one specific CLEP test, the Peterson's tests don't resemble the real test. This is a great resource for CLEP College Mathematics: Free College Mathematics CLEP * Exam Study Guide I thought the section on logic was good and succinct. If you don't understand or like complex numbers, just forget about them. They aren't worth the effort studying for the three questions you'll see over them. Logarithms are easier to learn. Spend your time on them. CLEP College Mathematics, ahould I panic? - collegebyclep - 03-25-2013 clep3705 is right on this one. Petersons are usually the very best source out there but I got a 56 and 55 on them. When it came time for the actual test, I got a 77 on the 20-80 scale. The College Mathematics CLEP is not difficult but it also does require knowledge on using the functions. The best advice I can give is that you should use the Kahn Academy website to study for the different categories on College Board's site. Look at the percentages of what's tested on and start by studying the biggest categories. CLEP College Mathematics, ahould I panic? - sklineho - 03-26-2013 Oh don't get me wrong, I've done everything you said and have been doing so for weeks. I've been through probably thirty Khan videos. I guess this may be much ado about nothing. But I'd rather be over-prepared than under-prepared. It's reassuring to know that many people seem to think it ends up being a lot easier. However, I'd like to at least feel somewhat confident, so I suppose I'll continue working until the last moment. Thank you for the advice though. |
