What do I do if I entered the wrong college code - meeko - 07-17-2013
First time taking a test today, and the place where you enter registration information on the test said I would have to enter a college code or pay a fee later. So I entered a college code, but got the wrong one. I am not registered at any college. What should I have done, and will that mistake cost me more?

No matter what you enter you have the same chance to go back and order a transcript. It costs the same no matter how many tests you've taken or whether they sent a result out. If you aren't enrolled you should leave it blank and order the transcript when the time comes. At most you might have confused a school (if that code was real), otherwise you're okay to enter nothing next time. You'll pay once for a transcript and it will include all of your scores for that fee. Don't worry about it.

When you're finally ready to apply and send your transcripts, you will have to order a transcript from DSST assuming that's the test you took. The fee is $30. I don't know which college you're planning to attend, but make sure that they will hold your scores even though you haven't applied or enrolled. If they won't, then you're going to have to order a transcript later anyway. The best thing to do is to take all of your planned tests. and then send the transcript once you apply.

I just wanted to concur with cooperalex2004 and sanantone. I just leave it blank when they ask for a college code. Once I get all my testing completed I will have CLEP and DSST send my transcripts to the college in which I enroll. If I went to take a CLEP test and some clerk insisted I needed to put a number in the college code slot then they could use any number they wanted or make something up at random, because once I'm ready to actually enroll in a college I will still have CLEP and DSST send my transcripts to the college in which I enrolling.

So make sure to remove that 4-digit code the next time you take a DSST exam (or you can update your information any time from your home computer by logging in to the ibt site with your username and password). As everyone has said, it is not anything to be concerned about.
