TESC English Composition 1 and 2 , CLEP for only one of them - JBtesc - 10-21-2013
I took English Comp. I with TESC and got an A.
It was miserable. I don't want to take English Comp. II
If I take the CLEP, will it replace my class (and my A) with the CLEP? Or just fill the slot for Eng. Comp. II?

Your graded course will stay. TESC will duplicate the credits that overlap and give you the ENC-102 credits you need (just be sure to take the CLEP College Comp exam and not the modular version).

You can also take the TECEP. It's about the same price of a clep.

You could take it at SL. I attempted EC2 at TESC and ended up dropping it. I hated that class it was all about building a research paper.

As I recall the Straighterline English Comp II class had about four writing assignments. One of them was a descriptive paragraph where you choose from among the pictures they have, and write a paragraph of at least ten sentences that include all five senses. It actually was a fun assignment; I got high kudos from the instructor.
The final assignment does center around a research paper. As I recall they wanted it to be a minimum of 1500 words; mine was around 1800. This shakes out to about six pages. They also want you to use referenced material in MLA format.
Whether you like to write or not (I do) you should still have some experience writing various papers. Chances are there will be times in your career when you might be asked to write reports on your activities or proposals.

Yes sir thats why I preferred the SL version over the TESC version. It had different types of paper to write compared to TESC which was all about building a research paper..boring!
