App I found for CLEP preparations (iPad/iPhone) - jmmurray203 - 10-30-2013

Hey guys, wanted to share this resource I found for studying for CLEP exams.

App is called "CLEP Exams" from Ion Citadel, LLC. ($2.99)
I know for sure that it is for iPad and iPhone, not sure about other devices as the apple store only shows those two devices. Decided to give it a whirl as I am slamming my head full force into my computer screen every night to get through these InstantCert US History II/US Government cards so that I can graduate in December (transfer student, different first year requirements).

So far this app is great, I did a few questions from one of those Peterson's practice exams and these seem to be the exact same thing with the explanations and everything. This one isn't free as it was $2.99, but I'm fine with the cost since I don't need an internet connection to use it and they got everything on there from American Government to Western Civilization II and my wife might end up using some of them down the road to get intro stuff out of the way.

Hope someone else finds this helpful!

Other posts including this one (http://www.degreeforum.net/general-education-testing-discussion/20446-clep-ipad-app.html) have mentioned it but it sounds like we need some more reaction so be sure to let everyone know how it works.

Oh, 1 question I had about this app. For the $2.99 you pay, do you get access to EVERYTHING in their database? Or just to the practice questions for 1 test (i. e. Is every test $2.99)?

From everything people have said, it appears you get all of them. That being said, Ion Citadel LLC isn't Petersons, so I can't see this lasting forever. As soon as Petersons finds out that they're using Petersons IP, you can bet they'll ask Apple to pull it from the store.

Well as of 11/6/13, I can not locate that app for either the iPad or the iPhone. It seems that perhaps it has been pulled from the app store. What a shame, I have been looking for a good study source for CLEP and DSST exams for the iPad that doesn't require me to have an internet connection.

Sorry for not responding earlier, have been crazy busy with studying for regular courses, work, and studying for these exams.

Each question has an explanation as to why the correct answer is the best answer and why other answers may seem good but are ultimately not the right/best answer. It also has some tips on questions about how to eliminate some answers just on wording alone. I found it really helpful as I took my first exam today (US History II with a score of 68).

You can randomize the questions and the answers so they show in different orders each time. However, I wouldn't randomize the answers if you are using the explanations because it will reference specific answers and it will reference the wrong letters if you do it that way.

Bookmark feature: You can bookmark specific questions, then from the main menu you can go directly to those questions at a later time using the Bookmarks button.

Yes, it comes with every Exam "free" after you buy the app. Apparently they used to give the app for free then let people just buy exams for a dollar or something like that. But, there a lot of complaints about the in-app purchases so in October they made the app cost $2.99 with all the exams included. American Government (300 questions), US History II (360 question), US History I (360 questions), etc., etc.

Yeah, I just tried getting the link from my App Store and it says it isn't available in the US. Bummers! But now I see a free Petersons app in the store? Going to check it out.

EDIT: Nevermind, the Petersons app was only Composition.
