Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - ironheadjack - 02-04-2014 My capstone course is nearly done and if everything goes as planned I will graduate in March with my BA. Since I have plans to go into law enforcement I was considering adding the AAS in Environmental, Safety, & Security Technologies to my graduation packet paper thingy. I've read on here from a few people who got the AAS, that it hasn't helped them get a job or anything, but I thought it might be a little resume booster. All of the requirements for the AAS should be met already with my gen eds and FEMA courses, I believe all I'd need to do is ask an adviser to add it on, and maybe pay a few bucks more for an additional degree. What do you guys think...worth adding on the AAS in Environmental, Safety, & Security Technologies?? Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - AlbaTiVo - 02-04-2014 If you have met all the requirements then I would especially as there is no additional fee for applying for an associates at the same time as a bachelors - it's just the flat $280 fee for them both. Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - ironheadjack - 02-04-2014 Sweet deal! If it doesn't cost any extra money, I might as well add it. Thanks Alba Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - defscarlett - 02-04-2014 Aren't they requiring a capstone course now? Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - ironheadjack - 02-04-2014 I've seen people mention a capstone for AA/AS degrees, but never anyone actually doing one....I would think that my BA capstone would be equivalent to an AA capstone, or at least cancel it out. If I need to do another capstone course for an AAS then screw that. You need this course for any of the AAS degrees: syllabus_APS-295-nov13 It's got a different twist compared to the BA capstone as it looks at technology. Since the degree is offered from the school of Applied Science & Technology, I'd expect that the BA capstone being taught by a different school within TESC [Heavin school of Arts & Sciences] would most likely cause an issue and require you to complete both capstone courses. Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - ironheadjack - 02-04-2014 Well now that sucks. Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - LaterBloomer - 02-04-2014 Meh, it would have been nice, but life goes on. Just put the PDF or whatever the acronym is that most of us earned from FEMA for the courses we took on your resume in the certifications/licenses/whatever section. Might help, and probably won't hurt. (Unless you go overboard listing stuff. That just looks desperate.) Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - AlbaTiVo - 02-05-2014 You should be able to pull up that degree in the online evaluation tool and it will tell you if you have satisfied all of the requirements or not, but like cooperalex said, you may well need to do the associate capstone. Should I add the AAS ESST to my graduation packet?? - ironheadjack - 02-05-2014 I tried the "what if" machine, and the AAS ESST is one the degrees that isn't synched up with the online system, for some reason. I was going to call today and ask but I've been shoveling snow all day, and I think there's a state of emergency...so they're probably closed anyhow. I'll try them tomorrow. |
