DSST / CLEP score posting timeline - neomatrix - 03-10-2014

Hello all,

I needed 15 credit hours and signed up with Excelsior to get their OneTranscript service. I ended up taking 3 CLEP and 2 DSST exams with 3 credit hours each to meet the 15 credit hours.

My question is the CLEP score reports showed up on Excelsior's transcripts received page about 48 hours after taking the test. DSST still hasn't shown up yet although I took both exams on the same day. All exams were electronic online at the testing center and I got the score reports immediately.

Anyone have any experience or insight with Excelsior timing to receive/post DSST/DANTES score reports?

Thanks

It is highly possible that Excelsior has set up an account with CLEP to receive official score reports electronically. This service has been offered for some time, but I have not heard of very many who actually do this. CLEP is a bigger outfit and prints and mails official scores/transcripts every day (from NJ). Last I heard, DSST prints official scores/transcripts twice a week (coming from MN) and they do not offer any kind of electronic score reporting to the designated institutions.

Thanks for the heads up. That would make sense since I took CLEP three different days and without fail the score reports were on my "transcripts pending review" exactly 48 hours later. DSST/DANTES is pending but it has only been about a week. I'll post when they are showing up.

Excelsior just received my DANTES/DSST transcript/score reports. From test date to receipt was only 4 business days (6 calendar days). Not bad!

Not bad at all Neomatrix, Thanks for reporting as it gives us an idea how long the wait is until it becomes official on the transcript which is what all the effort is about.

I have seen DSST transcripts and score reports take weeks. I have very little respect for Prometric as a business.

For anyone earning their degree from other colleges/universities, please make sure to contact your registrar's office if there seems to be a delay. Many times the office has received the official score/transcript but it can take some time before the credits are actually processed onto your account. If this seems to be the case, ask your registrar's office how long it typically takes from receipt of the transcript to appearance on a student's account.

There is no control over the time that the postal service takes to deliver first-class mail from NJ or MN to your school's location. Both programs ask that you allow 10-15 business days (2-3 weeks) for official scores to be received. If your school receives them in less time, great!

In the event that your school never receives your official score, CLEP and DSST should resend without charging you any additional fee as long as you designated your school to receive your official score. There is always going to be the possibility of human error and/or computer error.
