Since many of us hope that our degrees offer a solution for more than just bare walls, I was hoping we could start a thread detailing some career success as a result of degrees from the big 3. After completion were you able to change fields? Did you take down a promotion? Get a pay increase? How long did it take you to start monetizing that piece of paper?
I'm a field service technician working on copy machines in downtown Chicago who is looking to get a real estate, finance, or marketing position with a BSBA from TESC. I chose the general management concentration because of the significant cost increase to specialize. Since I don't have any one particular area in mind I thought I might see where I land and then look to put that extra money towards a masters in that field. I just turned 31 and feel like I need to complete the degree and start getting relevant business experience somewhere before I worry too much about the next step. This forum has been such an inspiration regarding degree completion. However, for many of us that degree is a means to reach our career goals. The testing is going well and now I'm looking for career inspiration!

I didn’t want to switch careers, just relocate and take my present career to the next level, and having a BSBA from TESC has opened up those doors for me. I was able to move half way across the country with no job prospects and start interviewing within a couple of weeks of landing in part because of my education. I’ve gone on to complete 1 grad program and almost another that having this degree allowed me to enter. I’ve made the jump from a technical support role to a business analytics role that definitely offers more upward mobility. I am in my mid-30’s and didn’t complete my BSBA until I was 33. So it is definitely possible. Don’t let your age intimidate you, the time is going to pass regardless so you may as well spend part of it bettering yourself.

I'm presently working in Asia as an English teacher, more of a "job" than a career, and just completed my bachelor's in mathematics at TESC. I had to take several extra courses but I think it was all worth it. I recently got an interview at an international school as a Mathematics prep teacher, and hope to develop my career as an AP/IB Math teacher, and work in various countries all over the world!

I already had a good career in B2B sales and sales management, but wanted to move up the ladder. My BS helped me enter my Global MBA program and since then, I got promoted to VP of Global Sales at my past company and then a great job offer at a prestigious medical organization, where I am now Head of Global Sales. So.. the BS isn't the "be all end all" but it's a very important step for some people's careers. It definitely helped me!!
