Amberton University:The Next Big Thing? - Saharapost - 06-16-2014

I am really looking at Amberton University for graduate studies IF only they will admit foreign students. I wrote to the Advising Team yesterday and got a response from them this morning. One of their advisors wrote:
Quote:Before I can answer any questions you may have, I need to know if you are a F-1 student? We have strict admission requirements for international students.
Okay, this response seems cold to me but I am hoping they'll accept my reply that I do not plan to come to the US but study online. Still waiting for their response.

Aside that they seem to have a price that is unbeatable ($726 per course Amberton University - Financial Information), they are a B&M school with RA status and they seem to not require GRE/GMAT. They also offer online graduate programs.

So, B&M, RA, Online graduate degree, and a price that falls between 200 to 250 per credit hour make my Vegan mouth water. Smile

Are there any other places like this? Does anyone has experience with them? Suggestions are highly welcomed. Thanks in advance everyone.

Wow, sounds like a good deal for the masters degrees... Wish they had some options that I liked a bit more, but it's something to think about.

Yes, I wish they had more offers but I can go with MBA Management or MS Human Resource and Training since I would like to work in HR anyway...

Just keep in mind their business courses are not accredited by the AACSB or any of the other business program accreditation agencies (if that's important to you). Also, the University does not participate in any type of federal financial aid program (which is not necessarily bad but it can be if that's your only source of funding). Maybe Fort Hays State University. I can't remember if they require the GRE or GMAT.

Southeast Missouri State University

For a non US citizen, SMSU seems to be on the high side as they charge about $505 per credit hour.

Honestly, I don't think AACSB matters in my case as I am not in the US. An online RA degree from a B&M school is enough for me. Smile It seems Amberton RA will be enough for me.

FHSU uses either GRE or GMAT and Undergraduate GPA for admission. There MBA is about 400 per credit hour.

Quote:Why do we require the GMAT or GRE?
We use your GMAT or GRE score as one piece of evidence of your current ability to deal with the courses and concepts in our program.
Studies by the Graduate Management Admission Council have found that the combination of GMAT or GRE score and GPA most accurately predicts the future success of MBA students. When undergraduate grades are used alone, they are not very good predictors of MBA success. But, when GMAT or GRE scores are included in the evaluation process, the predictive ability almost doubles.

Wayne State College charges a little more per credit hour than Amberton, but since its MBA is only 30 credits, the whole program comes out to be a little cheaper. They are IACBE-accredited, but require the GMAT. Not taking the GMAT or GRE really limits your options.
