I'm really frustrated with my preparation for the statistics DSST. I will keep pushing through and I will take the test on July 31 but I'm not feeling very confident about it. I figured I better take a moment to come up with another plan if this doesn't work out.

I am applying to Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Alabama. Both have Masters in Management accredited by the AACSB (something I've decided I want) and both will cost me less than 12K. The caveat being that I need to pass a statistics course. University of Alabama doesn't necessarily require it (SEMO does) for admission into their program but this class is required as part of the UA program:

ST 560 Statistical Methods in Research I. Three hours.
Prerequisite: MATH 121 or 125.
Statistical methods for summarizing data; probability; common probability distributions; sampling and sampling distributions; estimation and hypothesis testing for means, proportions, and variances using parametric and nonparametric procedures; power analysis; goodness of fit; contingency tables; and simple regression and one-way analysis of variance.

For that reason, I'd rather deal with it now so that I have a foundation rather than struggle through it later.

Does anyone know of a statistics course (not Straighter Line because SEMO won't accept it) that is entirely online at a regionally accredited institution that won't be an arm and a leg? My local CC has a program but it is a full term completing in December and it's at campus.

I seriously considered registering for the 8-week course at COSC which starts 8/25/2014 and ends 10/19/2014 but then I went to go look at his ratemyprofessor reviews...Sad That's the worst I've ever seen on that website. Andre*Freeman at Charter Oak State College - RateMyProfessors.com

Help. Sad

MATH-205 Statistical Methods at Adams State University. Online course, self-paced, open enrollment. $600
Mathematics Courses - Distance Learning - Extended Studies - Adams State University

STA-121 Principles of Statistics BYU Independent, self-paced $504

I haven't taken courses through Adams, but I can vouch for the quality of BYU courses. They are challenging, but the quality is outstanding.

The only reason I hadn't considered those is because if I fail the DSST I'm assuming I need to take the actual course and not just teach myself so I can test out of it. Most of the tests I've taken in the past were just to get it done. This time, I actually need to learn and retain the information for the long term if I want to be successful in grad school. This may just be much ado about nothing but I want to make sure I have another plan if I fail. Thanks!

Maybe if I launder the credits through COSC. Does anyone know if COSC considers this as transfer credit?

Do you think if I study and understand all the videos here: https://www.khanacademy.org/math/probability that I will be able to pass the DSST in Statistics? I did purchase the Idiot's Guide as suggested but today I spent 3 hours trying to understand one concept and when I finally gave up and looked it up on Khan he made perfect sense of it for me (via video) in 8 minutes. It was amazing. I am definitely an aural/visual learner. I just want to make sure Khan covers all that I need to know for the exam.

I prefer video lectures to all other forms of learning. You may want to check itunesU and see what lectures are available. I use it regularly when preparing for exams.
