Submitting portfolios/PLA for credit - SirTeacherGuy - 07-04-2014

I have been working on putting together a few degree plans for people with the help of this forum. Completing a course through Saylor Academy and completing a portfolio for it to earn credit has been suggested a few times on this forum. However, I'm realizing that I am not honestly not really sure how to even start going about doing that.

For example, say I want to complete the course whose information page I have linked to below through Saylor Academy.

CS 201 - Elementary Data Structures
http://www.saylor.org/courses/cs201/

I would do so in the hopes of having it satisfy the Data Structures requirement for the program whose information page I have linked to below.

Thomas Edison State College Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science

Where would I even begin the process of creating a portfolio to earn credit for this course?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe begin with TESC's PLA 100 and PLA 200 courses? Then put together a TESC PLA for Data Structures.

Just a suggestion. Hopefully someone with more expertise in this field would be able to give you a more comprehensive answer. Or you could email TESC to find out what are the steps to building a portfolio.

Alternatively, (for a limited time) it is possible to earn 3-4 free credits via the Saylor-SUNY pilot portfolio program. http://www.saylor.org/student-credit-pathways/suny-esc/

I can't post links right now, but building a portfolio for TESC is not as easy as when Steve Levicoff did it. Read through all of the lessons in the links posted by Saylor on their ASBA open course option page. They have the contents for PLA 100 and 200. Lesson 6 is not linked properly in PLA 200; there is a correct link to it at the bottom of module 6. That is where you will learn about the narrative. TESC expects about 5 pages per credit.
