I have the total cost at $3594 right now. My son's goal is to attend a master's program in automotive engineering after. This is his high school to college plan. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

The Social Science and History CLEP will not work for personal responsibility. I'm not sure if Saylor Business Law and Ethics will work since it's transcribed as Business Law. You would have to ask TESC on that unless someone else here has used it for the ethics requirement. I can't see anything else that might need revision. You would have to verify if all of those tests will count as UL natural sciences.

If you son is interested in an Engineering Masters, be sure he doesn't have to have an Engineering Bachelor's to get into the program. At every Engineering program I have looked at, they wanted a BS in Engineering for admissions. There is no Big 3 degree that would get me anywhere close to a Master's in Engineering program in Electrical Engineering. I wouldn't be surprised to see similar policies in Automotive engineering. Engineering is one of the holdouts when it comes to distance education.

Good point. Some programs are particular (want a bachelor's in engineering or even a specific field of engineering). Some of them ask for degrees in engineering or a related field like mathematics or applied science. Even for the more flexible programs, your bachelor's will probably have to be heavy in math and physics. Just going up to calculus I might not cut it.

Could the BSAST in Technical Studies be used to get into an grad program?

Edit: I agree with Sanantone, I think chem and physics (with labs) will be needed. A lot of engineering degrees require physics I and II with labs.

Let me add. They require Calculus based Physics I & II with lab. TESC only offers Algebra based Physics courses. I have bruises from banging my head against the wall trying to find an alternative route to an engineering degree. Unless one wants to spend outrageous amounts of money at UND or ASU, the traditional route is the only way to an ABET accredited engineering program. Even with ABET, Engineering Technology programs won't qualify for most Engineering Master's degrees.

Is the ECE Physics algebra or calculus based? https://my.excelsior.edu/documents/78666/245056/uexcel_cg_physics.pdf/17489830-479b-48cd-a6a1-9180429dd3d9

According to an academic advisor, TECEP Network Technology cannot be used in the Natural Sciences area of study.

ECE Physics is Algebra And Trig Based Physics.

There are Calculus based Physics courses at BYU.

Introduction to Newtonian Mechanics : - PHSCS 121 - BYU Independent Study - Online Courses
and
Introduction to Waves, Optics, and Thermodynamics : - PHSCS 123 - BYU Independent Study - Online Courses

The Straighterline courses are calculus-based, but I'm not sure if those will be acceptable for graduate school. The BYU courses don't have labs, so you will have to pay careful attention to what these programs require.
