How to know when you're ready? Practice CLEP exams - jjoh429 - 08-28-2014 Hi all, I have one CLEP left to take in order to start my master's degree program. This is the first test that I have used IC for. I have been studying the flashcards and I have also checked out the exam specific forum. I passed the last one (Western Civilization I) after studying the REA book for a week. The other two tests I passed back in 2009 without studying at all. This time, I am finding the subject to be a little more complex and broad since I am preparing for the Humanities CLEP. I have a background in Literature so hopefully that will help some but I have not had any exposure to most of the other arts until now. The reason I am posting is because I just took the Free Clep Prep practice test and I scored a 72%. Is that a respectable score or do I need to bring it up a lot higher to pass the CLEP? I have a bit of a time constraint so I would like to take the test sooner rather than later but I don't want to push it too hard and not pass at all. I'm just having a hard time figuring out when I will be ready since the topic is so broad and I will never know every single thing that will be on the test. How much is enough to pass? Thanks for the help. How to know when you're ready? Practice CLEP exams - koenigtv - 08-28-2014 Depends on what your scoring with IC. I like the practice tests at freeclepprep, they always give me that real world testing feel and I use that score to evaluate my readiness. In my experience, if I scored an 80% or more in IC, I was always able to pass a CLEP. Use both until you feel comfortable, but really IC is an excellent indicator of measuring your knowledge and preparing for the CLEP. How to know when you're ready? Practice CLEP exams - jjoh429 - 08-28-2014 Thanks for the advice. It seems like something happens with my Internet connection or computer right at the end of the flashcard set every time I do it but from what I have calculated I seem to be scoring from 80%-88%. I'll probably just continue to study a little bit longer and then take the test. How to know when you're ready? Practice CLEP exams - jjoh429 - 08-29-2014 I just wanted to update my post for anyone else who is seeking advice. I was so worried that I would not pass but I went ahead and took the humanities clep this morning because I am going out of town and wanted to make sure the material was at least fresh in my head. Well, I passed with a 62! I honestly don't even remember most of the questions because I pretty much breezed through it. I studied the IC flashcard a which helped but what really got me by was the advice on the exam specific forum! Like seriously, I was worried that I shouldn't put all of my trust in a random document I found on the Internet but I had a lot of questions on my test from there. I had the REA book too but I barely studied it because I didn't find it helpful for this test. And like I said early in this thread I had gotten a 72% on the free clep practice test. I don't know how I did it but I'm so thankful. Yesterday I felt like I kept forgetting the same people's names and today I passed the last CLEP I needed to get start my masters. I know I'm probably gushing but I'm just so relieved! Thank God! Sorry if there are typos, I'm on my phone lol. |
