UExcel's Literacy Instruction in the Elementary School - Advice/Opinions Appreciated - SuZQ2 - 01-27-2015

Hi All...

Anyone out there with help/advice/opinions regarding UExcel's Literacy Instruction in the Elementary School? I have info from the Specific Feedback section, but am extremely intimidated by my total lack of knowledge regarding this subject:ack:. Is it doable for someone with no experience in El Ed? Which of the four required texts did you find the most helpful for test prep -- 4 texts...:ack:

Thanks so much! The appeal of completing 6 UL credits in one go is tremendous, but the sheer volume of subject matter needed to be learned...Whoa!!!:willynilly:

Replying to my own note - hope someone out there has some advice regarding this exam as I really feel I'm in over my head with this one banghead.

I'll stick with it for a max of two weeks, then re-evaluate to see if I want to continue...For me, the main draw is the 6 UL credits and the fact that the testing center is just 3 miles from my house.

I'm planning on taking this exam later this year, but I obviously don't have much advice yet for you about it. My only suggestion would be to carefully read over the exam Content Guide (it's a pdf you can download) as it outlines (so I've heard) what will be covered on the exam. I'm personally planning in a lot longer than two weeks to study for it. If you do take it, please let us know how it goes!

Yes, the content guides plus the practice exams are extremely helpful for all UExcel's (I've taken 4)...Time-wise, I've budgeted 3-4 MONTHS to absorb all the material...I always take a lot more time preparing than the average tester here on the Forum, but this exam really needs extensive study - there's a TON of material.

As I mentioned, I'll see where I am in two weeks - if I'm still lost, I'll move on to another area of study. I've got a main plan for completing my degree, but try to keep things flexible just in case I come up against a banghead subject!

Thanks!Smile
