I had been planning to start TESC in May (when my semester at local B&M finishes), but realized last week that I might not be able to start until July term because of fin aid eligibility. I called TESC Fin Aid office and they confirmed: basically, since I have a federal aid award at my current school for the spring '15 (Jan - May) term, I won't be eligible for fin aid at TESC until the "next" school year (starting July '15 term). Not a big deal since I can just focus on the SL courses I have planned in the two month gap.

However, I've heard some talk on here about getting in before the '16 catalog starts. Is this a valid concern? I'm after a BA NatSci/Math.

I could pay out-of-pocket for a single TECEP to 'get in' now, but I don't have one planned in my degree. As it stands, all my gen eds and electives are satisfied except Engl II, and I've already been using IC to study for the CLEP so I was just planning on taking that. However, I could do the TECEP instead if it helps. Otherwise, I'd be open to taking one of the easier TECEP's out there regardless of subject (as long as it doesn't duplicate something I already have) just to get enrolled. There are no TECEP in my AOS that help because I only need UL (unless I'm overlooking a UL NatSci TECEP).

So I guess that's two questions:
Is it necessary (or at least beneficial) to enroll before July term to stay on the 2015 catalog?
Are there any TECEP that would fit my above requirements?

Thanks for any input!

Excellent idea!

Any one of the following TECEPs could be used in the area of study.
The Science of Nutrition (BIO-208-TE)
Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics (MAT-105-TE)
College Algebra (MAT-121-TE)
Principles of Statistics (STA-201-TE)

The NS/M 33cr in area of study (AOS) is broken down as follows:
6cr 100 level
9cr 200 level
15cr 300-400 level
3cr Capstone 400 level

Thanks for the help!

So you agree it's best to get in on the 2015 catalog?

Unfortunately, the only one there that wouldn't be a duplicate for me is nutrition (however, I don't need any more 200 lvl NS/M).

Since there aren't any UL TECEP in NS/M, it looks like the consideration is down to: Engl II, or the easiest possible TECEP just to get something on the books.

Have you taken the nutrition exam? I actually might be able to knock that out pretty easily unless it's known to be more difficult than expected.

You'd actually be enrolling under the 2014-2015 catalog. The school calendar year is July 1-June 30.

No, I have not taken the nutrition exam, I took PSY270 and BUS421. The best method of searching the subject is via google. Enter the exam and the website address for forum reviews. The ENC102 TECEP has received very good feedback. From the reviews I've read, ENC102 would seem to be the easier choice but it truly depends on the individuals strengths. You might want to research both before making a final decision.
