What licensing and education requirements exist in opening an adoption agency? - soliloquy - 08-11-2015

Hello!

It seems like I'm always coming back asking for help with things. KayV was kind enough to do a degree plan for a friend of mine awhile ago. She hadn't really made a decision about what route she wanted to take but then she recently decided she wants to open up an international adoption agency. That sounds like a tall order and she knows it's nothing that will happen overnight but I haven't been able to find licensing requirements or education requirements for doing this in Ohio. She said she thinks you have to have a masters in social work and she is at the beginning of her educational journey. She is hoping to partner with an adoption agency overseas where she has made contacts in her work as a missionary. Does anyone know where you would find this type of information regarding education and licensing requirements for Ohio? I have been trying to google it for the last our and I only come up with information for adoptive parents.

It is definitely a lot to weed through when googling, but below are some things I found and hopefully will give some kind of starting point.

How to Open an Adoption Agency: 9 Steps - wikiHow
Ohio.gov | Business | Licenses & Permits

Some other info I found - "You would contact the local department of jobs and family services. To have a Agency you need to be Licensed for Foster Care/Adoption, or Domestic Adoption or International Adoption by your State Licensing Department of Social Services. In California it is an State Adoption Board."
