DSST score confusion? - Togas - 11-23-2015 I took DSST technical writing today. Score: 441 My school says it needs a 46 to pass. I called them to try and get an understanding as to how this computes, and the guy on the phone had no idea what I was talking about, saying he doesn't know of a 3 digit scoring system for DSST. I then called Prometric to try and get an understanding, and was they said to ask my University. What is going on? How can I understand what my grade will be with the 2 digit scoring system. I understand the 3 digit system is a grade given based upon how well you did in relation to others in a test group. The 2 digit system is just how many you got correct. Is there a way to figure this information out? I did search here before asking. Not really getting a clear answer, at least from what I saw. I do understand that odds are I passed and shouldn't worry about it. I'd like to know what to expect from the school when they make the translation. Next up, Chemistry (Maybe) DSST score confusion? - rebel100 - 11-23-2015 This might help explain the difference ( thanks Jennifer) http://getcollegecredit.com/assets/pdf/DSST_Exam_Scoring.pdf DSST publishes a list of their passing score recommendation, find out what it is then talk either to your testing center manager or college registrar...the kid at the counter rarely understands this stuff DSST score confusion? - rebel100 - 11-23-2015 See the second or third result on this search https://www.google.com/search?q=dsst+technical+writing+passing+score&oq=dsst+technical+writing+passing+score&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.11874j0j4&client=ms-android-sprint-us&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 I couldn't get the URL on my phone....I suspect the cut score is 400. DSST score confusion? - dfrecore - 11-23-2015 It looks like 400 is the passing score for all DSST's. I think the old scoring system was 2-digit, and they've been updating them for the last few years to the 3-digit scoring system. Your college has old info in the system - you can't compare one to the other. DSST score confusion? - cookderosa - 11-25-2015 this is true, your university has to update their score policy. The old score system was a completely different exam- you didn't take the exam that awards a 2-number score, no one can, it doesn't exist any more. Your actual advisor for that school can help you- they may not have had anyone take one of the newer 3-number tests, thus have not had a reason to update. It's funny that you say that, I convinced my husband to go take the MIS and Cybersecurity exams yesterday. He came back, having passed them cold (he didn't even look at the exam contents pages - but he works in Network security and has had multiple IT certs over the last 17 years). And said that the MIS exam was "ridiculuous!" They had stuff on there from Y2K. Hard to believe it's been updated. DSST score confusion? - Lindagerr - 11-28-2015 Here is a link to the DSST site wher they have a technical data sheet showing the old 2 digit and new 3 digit passing scores, maybe your school would accept this to show you passed. http://getcollegecredit.com/images/uploads/documents/Technical_Data_Sheets_rev_20100108.pdf DSST score confusion? - Togas - 12-03-2015 Thank you to everyone that replied. It took a few calls to prometric to get somebody to understand that there used to be a different scoring model. They all kept insisting I was referring to CLEP. With the confirmation from Prometric as well as showing the test center this thread, my school is finally updating their score requirements page. DSST score confusion? - dfrecore - 12-03-2015 Good to know that you can accomplish something with just a little bit of work - hahaha! Ok, a lot of work...
