Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - jsd - 02-03-2016 Yesterday I posted a Sociology plan, I thought I'd try another plan today. I saw Sanantone say in another thread that a BA in pysch is not test friendly anymore, but I thought I'd take a stab at a degree plan anyway. I think it's still fairly easy now (minus one class and the capstone), but I'm new to this so I might be messing it up. Any input or corrections would be appreciated. I'm uncertain about if many of these will transfer in as UL or not, so please feel free to correct me. *There's still a big question about TESU's odd 6 credit Social Psychology requirement. Not sure how they'd handle the missing 3 credits. I'm hoping they'd accept the Soc Psych test-out and let you make up the missing 3 as psych electives, but who knows. I'm currently waiting for an academic eval from transcripts I submitted in late January, so I'll know sometime later this month how they've transferred in my 3 credit Social Psychology class and maybe I'll have a clearer answer there from an adviser. Combine this plan with the current known general ed test-out plans, and fill out your free electives with any necessary TECEPs to meet any applicable residency requirement for your enrollment plan, and I think you have a psychology BA... A. Required Courses 30
LIB-495 Liberal Arts Capstone (no possible test-out) C. Psychology Electives 6 Any two of these (possibly 3, if they let you makeup missing Soc Pysch credits). Probably plenty of other options available not listed
e-Packs If you're not opposed to TESU's Epacks, which are basically more expensive test-outs, you have these options... e-Packs for Some Required Courses
Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - CM1999 - 02-03-2016 I am in the 2015 catalog and not sure if it's different for 2016 but they took my 2 credit Ethics and the CPCU class from The Institutes and applied it to my ethics requirement. I then had to ask them to grant an exception for the 1 remaining credit and they did -they moved it to another area. Maybe an ethics class woth TESU isn't necessary??? Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - jsd - 02-03-2016 That would be fantastic if so. But Ethics and the CPCU fulfills general ed ethics, right? Not the Psych field ethics? Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - CM1999 - 02-03-2016 oh crud. yes. I'm sorry! Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - Leherself - 02-03-2016 One little mumble - DSST Fundamentals of Counseling transfers in as COU-262 - it should still apply to the psych major, but it's not upper level. My UExccel Social Psychology exam transferred over as SOC-370. I would assume that TESU would grant an exception on the 6 credit deal - I really have no idea why their course is six credits, really. Any other university I've seen has it as a 3 credit class. On the upside though, that was probably one of my very favorite tests to study for - I thought it was super interesting. Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - swalke321 - 02-03-2016 In the past TESU has granted exceptions for less then the required number of credits sometimes automatically but sometimes only upon request. The CPCU ethics course seems to vary, sometimes an exception is made automatically and sometimes you have to request it. Its possible they would make an exception for social psychology though you may have to request it. For the ethics in social sciences you could probably use a course from an online or local 4 yr college/university or independent study course. TESU would probably accept ethics in psychology as well. My guess is the courses from TCC would most likely be considered UL but it is hard to say for certain. Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - jsd - 02-03-2016 Thanks, I updated my post to reflect it as LL. There are probably more that I'm off on. The 6 credit class is bizarre. I'm assuming the exception will work as you stated, but I'm anxious to get my eval back so I can ask an adviser about it. It was listed as COU-262 on their website, but they had been transcribing it as PSY-331 for a long time. When you would ask advisement, they would tell you that it was COU-262 and wouldn't count as psychology, but when the registrar got your score, they would transcribe it as PSY-331 or something like that. Are they no longer doing that? Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - Leherself - 02-03-2016 I just got my eval last month and it was transcribed as COU-262. That's also what it's listed as in the current catalog. I'm a soc sci major with loooooooots of upper division credits so it doesn't much matter to me personally. I've got an advising appointment next week though, and can add it to my list of questions and report back. Possible test-friendly TESU BA Psychology degree (after July 2015) - FallingWaters - 02-07-2016 My eval listed DSST Fund of Counseling as COU. I called and asked them to change it to PSY and they did. This was back in 2014! |
