Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - gremlinbrawler - 08-10-2016 Hi everyone, About 6 months ago I started with Jay Cross doing his DIY degree program. He gave me my "roadmap" that tells me what tests to take so that I can test out of my degree and I got started on it. I currently have about 42 credits. I would like to "switch out" some of the tests he set up for me on my plan with other ones that I would prefer taking but I just don't know what tests will transfer. I am really afraid of taking tests that I don't need and wasting time. If anyone could help me figure out what tests to take or even figure out how to know if a test will work I would appreciate it. I've spent a lot of time on the Excelsior website trying to figure it out but I'm having a difficult time with it. Thanks everyone Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - jsd - 08-10-2016 Can you post the degree plan he gave you along with any credits you already have under your belt? Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - gremlinbrawler - 08-10-2016 I'll send the plan to you in a private message if that's okay? Because I payed for it I wouldn't want other people to be able to steal it because that would't be too fair to Jay Cross. But the credits I already have are - 43 and the tests/classes were: Classes: French 101 - 5 credits in class French 102 - 5 credits in class Western Civilization I - 3 credits in class Tests: Intro to Psychology CLEP - 3 Intro to Sociology CLEP - 3 Business Law CLEP - 3 Info Systems CLEP - 3 Management CLEP - 3 Marketing CLEP - 3 Environment and Humanity DSST - 3 Substance Abuse DSST - 3 Organizational Behavior UXCEL - 3 Human Recourse Management UEXCEL - 3 Thanks so much for your help Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - gremlinbrawler - 08-10-2016 And here is a list of some tests that look easy/interesting to me that I would like to take if they could fit in to my plan - CLEP: Intro to Educational Psychology Analyzing and Interpreting Literature Human Growth and Development Humanities Social Sciences and History Natural Sciences American Literature English Literature DSST: Principles of Supervision Fundamentals of Counseling Introduction to Business Lifespan Development Psychology Intro to Law Enforcement Foundations of Education Introduction to World Religions Astronomy Criminal Justice - Upper Level? Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - gremlinbrawler - 08-10-2016 The ones in gray are the ones that I have already taken and the ones in light blue are the ones I want to swap out if possible. Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - jsd - 08-10-2016 Are you set on Excelsior? TESU would likely be much cheaper. I have a feeling dfrecore is going to provide you a great TESU plan soon that will save you big. Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - gremlinbrawler - 08-10-2016 I'm not necessarily set on Excelsior but I would definitely want to know all of the pros and cons to each before deciding not just cost. Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - jsd - 08-10-2016 The Big 3 (TESU, Excelsior, and Charter Oak) are all very similar. Mainly, they all have a very liberal credit transfer policy. TESU and COSC are public, non-profit state schools, Thomas Edison having the benefit of "University" (as opposed to college) status -- though that doesn't mean much aside from a better name. Excelsior is also non-profit, but they are a private school. TESU is generally much cheaper than Excelsior, with COSC not too far behind TESU at this point. TESU appears to be better represented on these forums, and building a degree plan for TESU is generally easier for us as it's a little clearer how things transfer to TESU (as opposed to Excelsior) based on our collective knowledge. Help with degree plan - Bachelors in Business at Excelsior - gremlinbrawler - 08-10-2016 Thanks that's helpful to know. I was reading some other forums and I noticed that some people apply to both and then decide from there where to go based off of how many of their current credits transferred so I might do that. |
