Hi Everyone,
I have been working hard at earning credits for the last 6 months and I'm at the point where I'm not quite sure what to do next. I think I've satisfied nearly all of the general education requirements for TESU. At this point, I'm looking for some advice on which school/degree I should focus on. A Liberal Arts/Social Science type degree fits my interests better, but the Capstone is somewhat intimidating to me. The BSBA route is not something I would rule out if it's easier and faster. I have been a stay at home mom for a number of years and my youngest is about to start school and I am looking to go back to work part time. I am looking to get a degree to make myself more marketable. My job experience is in the travel industry, but I don't plan on re-entering that field. I am hoping to find something with a good part time schedule (and hopefully benefits). A BSBA might be good with my job experience. I'm on the fence on which route to go and I'm hoping for some feedback.
I'm listing my credits below, and would love some advice on what to do next as well as any feedback on BSBA vs. BA degrees. Also, any feedback on which school to target would be great as well!

I think the majority on this board say Thomas Edison is the best as far as money and credits accepted. I would be sure about the major before you apply. I don't know about TESU, but at Excelsior they actually charge if you switch majors. And getting a new evaluation may take a month. Good luck!

Once TESU evaluates your credits you have the option of doing an unofficial eval for other degrees instantly. You can switch degree programs at any time without cost. TESU is more flexible and less expensive then Excelsior.

I'm not good at analyzing credits, but I can speak to the Capstone as a stay-at-home mom (who was originally scared to actually take the course) since I just completed it.
I had a very good mentor and some great online classmates which made a potentially stressful semester quite doable. In fact, because it is broken into small pieces, I enjoyed some parts, and am missing the class discussions.
So if fear is your main reason not to take the Capstone, let me encourage you that (again with a good professor) it's hard work, and intense, but really not terrible in the end.

I am including a spreadsheet for you for the BSBA in Gen Man at TESU (the only one I know well).
For any degree at TESU, you are missing English Comp II.
If you take something other than a BSBA, the econ courses count up in Gen Ed Electives, and you'll have some additional courses in Free Electives you can use. For the BSBA, you actually lose about 5cr, and will need an additional Gen Ed Elective because the econ courses go down in the core.
The pro's of the BSBA - it's one of the more useful degrees in the marketplace. And at TESU, you can test out of the capstone (Strategic Management), saving you about $1400 on the overall cost of a degree. Also, the are multiple ways to take the courses you need, and it's by far the cheapest degree out of the Big 3. You also need fewer UL credits - only 12cr required, all in the AOS, and there are a TON of ways to find those courses.
If you wanted to get a BALS of any kind, you would gain a few credits, but not enough to make a difference. You would also need 15cr of UL in the AOS, which depending on your degree, might be a little harder to find. But a BALS or BALS in SS are both doable (if a little bit more expensive than the BSBA).
It's totally up to you. You need to figure out what's most important to you, and what kind of job you want to get, before deciding on a degree.

Dfrecore, I have a question for you since you seem to be everywhere and know everything! I'm me :imwithstupid: easily confused and can't find direct answers to my questions, so here we are. *This got out of hand* Do you, or anyone, know if finance can now be tested out of with davar academys addition of classes? I would rather have that degree and then second with marketing. but if not i'm totally cool with the GM degree.

dfrecore - Thank you so much for the spreadsheet and your feedback! That is very helpful. There is definite appeal in just going for the BSBA. I like the idea of testing out of the capstone and cheaper is of course always appealing. Knowing there are so many options for classes is a plus as well.
I applied at TESU a couple of weeks ago because I want to take the TECEP in English Comp II. Does that lock in the current catalog for me?

Yes, and that is a pretty easy TECEP to take. Get the Hodges Harbrace Handbook from your local library (the APA and MLA styles haven't been updated since 2009 so any version printed since then will still work), put sticky notes on the sections the test guides talks about, and you don't even have to study for it (really, there is no good way to study for it anyway).
