Need a little help - nikunjd05 - 01-20-2017 Hello, I am new here and this is my first post. I have gone through many threads and tried to understand how this process of 'testing out' works. I think its great to test out and get an undergraduate degree. I wish I was aware of this a few years ago, it would have saved my a lot of money. Anyways, I already have a Bachelor degree from a brick and mortar college and was thinking of getting one in Accounting. I see that Thomas Edison State University offers BSBA in Accounting. Now my understanding is that I can test out all the courses except Capstone, which I will be required to take it online through the University. I have also looked at the degree plan on the university's website. I can test out many courses but some I was not able to find where I can test out from. Those courses are in the 'Area of Study' portion, like Intermediate Accounting I and II which are for 6 credits, and the 'Recommended Subjects' for 12 credits. If anyone can please shed some light on this issue, it would be helpful. And as always, Thank you in advance. Need a little help - davewill - 01-20-2017 Actually, you can also test out of the Capstone, it just has to be a TECEP (TESU's CBE). Need a little help - azt579 - 01-20-2017 I'm currently in the process of getting my BSBA in Accounting at TESU. Here's how my Area of Study is laid out: Intermediate Accounting I - Straighterline Intermediate Accounting II - Penn Foster Advanced Accounting - Study.com Applied Managerial Accounting - Study.com Cost Accounting - Straighterline OR Auditing - LSU Federal Income Tax - TECEP Need a little help - dfrecore - 01-20-2017 nikunjd05 Wrote:Now my understanding is that I can test out all the courses except Capstone, which I will be required to take it online through the University. At TESU, you can test out of the BSBA Capstone (Strategic Management). All other capstones have to be taken through them online. What is your first degree in? Also, if you want to post the courses that you've already taken, we can help you figure out what credits you need to take at TESU. I have a generic plan, but it won't be as helpful to you because your GE's will already be completed, and it will just be a matter of making sure you have the Core and AOS courses, and a minimum of 24cr. Post everything you've taken including course number and name. Need a little help - nikunjd05 - 01-20-2017 Thank you @BTaylor89. @dfrecore, I have a Bachelors in Computer Science. I don't remember all the courses that I took, I will have to dig up my transcript. I hope I find it. I will try to find it this weekend and post it. I was also thinking if I should go for another Bachelors or go for Masters. I am still playing with the idea. Thank you. Considering the cost of the 2nd bachelor's degree (especially because you probably don't have many of the courses you need), and the Residency Waiver cost of $2,000 - I would give serious thought to an MBA or MS in Accounting. Check out WGU - you could get your MBA or MS in Accounting for $3,000. Need a little help - swalke321 - 01-21-2017 If you are thinking of becoming a CPA you may want to look at what the requirements are. http://blog.tesu.edu/the-secret-to-earning-a-second-degree Information about the 2nd bachelors program. Need a little help - nikunjd05 - 01-23-2017 Thank you @dfrecore. I will have to look into WGU. Thank you @swalke321. I looked for my transcript but was not able to locate it. I know I have it somewhere but I didn't have much time to look for it. Anyways, I will look into WGU for Masters program. I have some thinking to do. Thank you all. |
