Hey Guys, I need some help. - davewill - 01-22-2017

My daughter is having medical issues that will possibly keep her from finishing at Cal. I'm trying to plan out finishing her BA English at TESU. I've attached a spreadsheet that is my best attempt to fill out a degree plan. I need help finding enough UL AOS courses. If we can fill that non-western lit course with an UL, that would help. I also need folks to check over and make sure I didn't commit any major errors.

Oops, We misinterpreted the course numbers at Cal. We need a LOT of UL courses. Any suggestions?

It sure would help to know those Shmoop lit course equivalencies for this plan. We'll hopefully know soon since we have a member with a transcript outstanding with TESU, but I imagine they'll be very helpful here

From the other thread:

Holocaust Literature SHMO-0020 will transfer to Thomas Edison as ENG-301 The Holocaust
The Bible as Literature SHMO-0027 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-242 Biblical Literature I
Literature in the Media SHMO-0022 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-430 Literature and the Media
Drugs in Literature SHMO-0019 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-299 Special Topics
Modernist Literature SHMO-0023 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-201 Introduction to Modern English & American Literature II
Shakespeare's Plays SHMO-0025 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-244 Intro to Shakespeare
Women's Literature SHMO-0028 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-323 Women in Literature

If I copied all that correctly, it had to be re-evaluated after the first advisor sort of phone it in.

Davewill, switch around the Intro to Business as a general ed elective and Global Climate Change as a free elective (Business goes in free electives, Global Climate Change goes in general ed electives).

I hope your daughter gets well quickly.

This was just pre-planning though, and an evaluator hasn't finalizrd it yet. This is all promising and likely at this point, but since the advisor fumbled it the first time, I'd like to see what the actual evaluation says

For UL, consider "Medieval Hispano-Jewish Poetry" at Coopersmith. It's NCCRS recommended at UL, not sure how TESU would take it, though.

All of those leaves me looking for a nonwestern lit choice and an UL AOS choice (unless they can be one and same).

From Shmoop:
Holocaust Literature SHMO-0020 will transfer to Thomas Edison as ENG-301 The Holocaust 3UL
Literature in the Media SHMO-0022 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-430 Literature and the Media 3UL
Women's Literature SHMO-0028 will transfer to Thomas Edison as LIT-323 Women in Literature 3UL

and from Coopersmith:
Medieval Hispano-Jewish Poetry (LIT-401) 3UL

and from UTexas self-pace independent study ($550/ course):
E 316N World Literature for Non-Western Literature
E 348 The Twentieth Century Short Story 3UL

and the Capstone makes 18 UL.

Excellent. That World Lit for Non-Western Literature should also cover the non Western lit requirement
