DSST Fundamentals of Cyber Security Questions - labrador13 - 02-08-2017

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to take the DSST Fundamentals of Cybersecurity in the next few weeks and was wondering if any of you knew how it compared to the Petersons' Practice Tests for this DSST. Typically, I know that those are harder than the real thing. Have any of you used them?

I've read through the material here: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-education-testing-discussion/21429-fundamentals-cybersecurity-feedback.html

With no study, I got a 65% on my first Petersons. I do have a lot of cybersecurity background, so I'm guessing that is factoring into the high score to begin with.

Any thoughts/suggestions/tips?

Thanks in advance!

I skimmed one of those thick CISSP books really quickly and passed the exam easily. It's not a hard test for those with a cybersecurity background.

Blue highlight mine. And for those without a cybersecurity background, it's going to chew you up and spit you out. 2016 DOD pass rates show that exam's civilian pass rate at 44%. The only exams with lower pass rates are speech, college algebra, and business math. Among the military who took it, the pass rate was only 26%.

OP has a cybersecurity background. He/she is probably overstudying for this.

My husband has an IT background (20 years starting from the bottom, although not sure how much is in cybersecurity - he previously had his CISSP which has since lapsed). He passed with no studying at all - he was going to a work meeting near the college, and I just told him to go over and take the Cybersecurity and MIS DSST exams one day, and he did. He hadn't even seen the exam sheets and had no clue what to expect. He said they were easy.

The best prep I found was quizlet, "Cybersecurity Fundamentals - Terms" the one with 364 terms.

Understand the concepts and you will be good.
