SL Final Exams - wandac - 05-04-2017

I just spoke with the helpdesk at StraighterLine. The nice lady there informed me that the course final exam can be scheduled at anytime, regardless of your progress in the course. In fact, she said that she has seen some people take the final exam first, prior to doing the quizzes. She also said that my son does not have to have everything completed before he takes the final. He's doing Intro to Communications. He has completed the quizzes and midterm, but has not completed his speeches. At his current rate, he won't finish the informational and persuasive speeches for another week. I'd like him to take the final exam while the material is still fresh in his mind. I'm not sure why, but I was under the impression that one had to have completed 75% of the course prior to scheduling the final exam and that the graded assignments had to be complete prior to final exam time. Can anyone else confirm the information SL gave me this morning?
Thanks!

I see no reason that would require all of the course work to be completed before the final. It shows up as another exam that must be completed but you could in theory do it whenever you want. So long as he completes all of the parts, there shouldn't be any problems. (I haven't taken the final first but it's an option as soon as you sign into the course)

There's no issue with that, I've done it a few times, such as for my Macro and Micro economics courses at Straighterline.
In fact, I did the same thing with the course you're referring to... Intro to Communications. Did the 3 videos after my final.

Actually, I did that with a few other courses as well. Survey of World History, the very first quiz, it stalled and timed out.
I finished the course and that one section had to be redone as there was no history of the very first quiz.

For Business Communications, I did all the exams first and then handed in my written assignments.
I would tell that the best way for one person may not be best for another, do it "your" way.
