My sons got an associates degree and needs to finish his bachelors in IT (Cyber Security or General IT). If he is starting from an associates degree would it be cheaper to take the local state college (around 122.85 in Florida per credit hour) for UL or bachelors courses or transfer to TESU. Assuming that he needs to tackle an additional 60 credit hours. I appreciate any information and if this has been done before kindly direct me to the thread.

@TESU you can use alternative credit whichever is much cheaper, $33 per credit is a good rule of thumb.
57 units @ $33 = $1881
3 credit Capstone = $1500
Residency waiver = $1800 (assume study.com pricing)
Graduation fee = $332
Total = $5513
A lot of people here like WGU for IT degrees, because they include a bunch of useful certs, and might even be cheaper depending on how fast you can work. Also WGU gives block credit for an associate's, so you'd be sure all GenEds are satisfied.

but a good part of those 57 credits would need to be upper level
where can you get upper level IT credits for $33 ?

Would your son qualify for a Pell Grant or other financial aid? That's the best benefit of doing it at the local college. Otherwise, WGU or others.

yeah, but I expect "rule of thumb." to be maybe 20 or 30% either way
so "$33 per credit is a good rule of thumb." would be $20 or $43 per credit
and I still don't think you're going to find many level IT courses $43 per credit
even if you find an upper level course for $100 per credit that's 3 times more than $33 per credit
I think 300 percent more is hardly rule of thumb

here are the requirements from the University of Central Florida
MAC 1114C College Trigonometry 3 hrs
COP 3223C Introduction to Programming with C 3 hrs
COP 3330 Object Oriented Programming 3 hrs
CGS 2545C Database Concepts 3 hrs
MAD 2104 Foundations of Discrete Math
and those are just the basics

does your son have those yet ?
he many need a lot more than 60 credits
I've heard the "BSBA in Computer Information Systems" get recommended a lot
BSBA Degree in Computer Information Systems at Thomas Edison State University
I have no idea how much it costs
and its actually a "Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Computer Information Systems"
I don't know if that matters

University of Florida is like $129 for instate yeah ~ ?
60 credits would be around 7740
but if you consider school's ranking and branding... UF and TESU
7k for a UF degree? Seems nice imo.

Hello there, here's my take. I would highly suggest finishing from the local state college if possible.
The only reason I recommend the Big 3 or competency programs is because of "learning" issues.
Your son is young, doesn't have kids, isn't working full time, there aren't as many barriers to education.
Essentially, the Big 3 and competency programs are geared towards "Adults" that are coming back to finish their education.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great way for people to complete of any age, but is it the right choice for him.
If cost is a factor, choose TESU, I think it will be cheaper if he complete his degree at TESU vs UofF.
