WGU increased tuition on IT programs - yb1 - 11-06-2017

Effective January 1, 2018, the tuition and fees for the College of Information Technology will increase according to the table below. As you know, WGU is nonprofit and self-sustaining on our tuition alone, receiving no state funding. And, we have not increased tuition since 2008.

For the past two years, we have been reviewing our costs as we have improved student support and added better learning resources, endeavoring to delay an increase as long as possible. It is important to note that even with this increase, WGU’s tuition remains among the lowest for online universities and compares very favorably with tuition at public universities. And, as evidenced by our graduates’ career success, WGU graduates derive great value from their degrees, seeing a quick return on their tuition investment.

This tuition increase applies to new and current students whose terms begin January 1, 2018, or after. If your first term begins on December 1, 2017, your tuition will stay at the current rate for your first term, and the increase will not take effect until your second term.

All of us at WGU respect and admire the sacrifices you make to earn your degree, and we are committed to providing you with a great learning experience and a respected degree at the lowest cost possible.

RE: WGU increased tuition on IT programs - jsd - 11-06-2017

It's going up for all WGU schools, not just the College of IT. It appears the IT college has the cheaper of the increases compared to other schools within WGU.

It's what, a $300 hike? the first hike in like 10 years for the school. I don't want to be paying more, but I certainly can't pretend that this is unreasonable

FYI: It's across the board, as per their webpage on tuition. See link: https://www.wgu.edu/tuition_financial_aid/tuition
I would have expected them to do so for only Business as they were going for ACBSP program/systematic accreditation.
However, seems like they're upping the price at all areas of study. Oh well, it's still pretty inexpensive overall.

Especially considering the number of IT Certs you get for those degrees, a $150 "program fee" (new) isn't unreasonable at all.
