WGU MS Data Analytics - kalishakti - 12-26-2017
I am considering this degree, has anyone completed it? How much of a challenge will it be without an IT background (I am comfortable with statistics and willing to learn the IT aspects?)
And which certification would be the easiest/cheapest to complete to meet the prerequisite:
- Verification of a current Oracle SQL, Oracle BI, or SAS certification that has been earned in the past five years.

They also take students with an accounting or finance degree. I wonder about economics, though, since there is a lot of data analysis in that field as well.

Wow! What a goldmine of information.
I couldn't get an answer from WGU about the eligibility of an economics degree for admissions purposes.

I practically had to force WGU to give me an answer for a different program. All I wanted to know was if my AAS met the prerequisite requirement, but they wanted all transcripts and test scores first. I finally told them that I wasn't sending my CLEP and DSST scores just to be told that I don't qualify.

Well, here's an update. It's a moot point for me until I get back to the US whether WGU will accept someone with an economics degree to the program, so I've begun thinking about alternatives.
The Georgia Tech program looks great, but I have no idea how selective they are, plus they follow the standard semester system and have a standard admissions process. Dakota State University has a program at the upper end of what I'm willing to pay before I'd go autodidact instead. Whereas WGU and GT are relatively clear on the prerequisite knowledge they want you to have, DSU is not, although they allude to it (I'm going to see if I can clear that up with them).
Given all that, I'm wondering if the TESU BS in Data Analytics, despite being a relatively expensive bachelor's degree is the path of least resistance. I should mention that what I want to be able to offer is a more data-driven approach to business problems.
Any thoughts?

The TESU degree is not terribly expensive when you look at the coursework ($5950 last I checked, for all of the Statistics.com courses). But then when you add the residency waiver, it adds up to $8,148 - and that's with the discount, which will go away at least partially, because there is no way to finish by June. When you look at the program, it shows that if you started today, the final course would be complete Jan 31, 2020.
I think you're better off getting a Master's degree, even if you have to wait for the WGU course. You could do the 10 courses in 2 terms for $7,570.
