Anyone have a list of Self-Paced and Competency-Based Graduate Programs? - Thorne - 01-18-2018

I'm working on a small list for a tentative plan of mine and am looking for the cheapest and fastest graduate programs that exist.

Basically, any degree from a school with RA accreditation under or near $10k that can be completed in one year or less (preferably less, as with CBE programs) will make its way onto this list. Other criteria will be listed, but are less important than the content of the list itself. International options may work, but they would need to be evaluated equivalently to degrees from domestic RA schools.

The current list is short and simplistic, since I only had a half-hour to research tonight, but it's a start.

So, let's spitball!

Capella Flexpath has a bunch - about $2500/12-week term. MBA's with a bunch of concentrations, MEd, MHA, MSN, MS in Psych with concentrations: https://www.capella.edu/capella-experience/flexpath/available-programs/

APU has a new Momentum Program, $2500/16-week term. So far it's only BA/BS degrees, but they may add MA programs in the future.

I'm not sure but it seemed like Capella's would take 3 terms minimum (because their time calculator was forcing the capstone into another term). Maybe only 2 terms if someone had plenty of transfer credits.

I think you all didn't look at the spreadsheet Thorne provided? Because most of this is already on that list (the schools are there except Kaplan).

@Thorne, This would make a good page on the DegreeForum Wiki.

I was thinking the same thing, which is why i went and grabbed all of the masters programs i could fine. We should have a section for both grad and undergrad on there.

The Professional Development Master's Degree at Amberton University can be completed for less than $8,000 if you do 12 credits via VESI for $1200 and the remaining 24 credits at Amberton for $6400. Otherwise, if you take all 36 credits at Amberton, it's $9600 - still less than $10k.

Amberton is Regionally Accredited (SACS), Non-Profit.

You can take 3 classes per 10-week term. Do 3 classes for four terms and you will finish in a little less than 12 mos for less than $10k.

This is not a competency-based program though, correct?
