Fema question can't find answer to - barbara2bba - 12-23-2007

I have been doing a search on this board, and can't find the answer to this question. I am enrolled in the BS in Liberal Arts program at Excelsior. I have seen that the maximum applied professional credits in the business degree can only accept 15 fema credits as a maximum. Does anyone know if Excelsior has the same requirement for the Liberal Arts program?

Also, I am not sure if surpassing the 15 fema credits would be considered a negative by prospective employers if indeed I can exceed the 15 for the liberal arts electives. Thoughts....

Love this board.

Thanks!

I would think that the FEMA allowance is the same for both the B.A. or B.S. at EC. I can't imagine why a prospective employer would from against more than 15; in my field the more the better. GOOD LUCK!!

I haven't researched this issue on the board, but I don't believe that Excelsior has a separate maximum set for FEMA credits. If a student is enrolled in the business program, they can only apply a maximum of fifteen (15) applied professional (elective) credits--regardless from where they are obtained. The Liberal Arts program appears to be looking for thirty (30) or more, so I would expect that you could use more than fifteen. There does appear to be some tie-in between your applied professional credits and your major or concentration, so I can't comment on that--but I do know that in the EC BGB program you can only have fifteen credits of applied professional anything.

Excelsior will allow a maximum of 30 credits from FEMA to be utilized toward Applied Professional Credit. Those credits must be transfered in through a transcript (other than TESC). FCC offers to translate FEMA courses into college credit for $60/credit ($1800 for 30 credits).

My advisor told me that in my degree Liberal Arts/Criminal Justice that they will transfer all the FEMA credits that they can to Applied Professional and that if I still have more they will apply as general elective credit as needed to meet my degree requirements.

Hope this helps.
