Ready for Biology? Opinions/Advice Please - C041348 - 12-28-2007 Hello, I just wanted to ask the board their opinion on how ready you think I am for the biology CLEP test. To give you some quick history, I used instacert and the REA study guide along with the official CLEP study guide practice test as well as wikepedia to help fill in the blanks to get ready for the psychology CLEP test and scored a 68 (need at least a 55) for my school. So I then proceeded to use this same test prep material to prepare for the Biology CLEP test and have been studying for 4 weeks. I felt pretty good about the material and then I came across the âPeterson Practice Testsâ to use as well. After taking 2 of them today... Much to my surprise, I scored a 55% and 53% on them. I felt that these were the most difficult practice tests I have come across so far... I was doing some other research on this and came across other board members feeling this as well. So I just wanted to ask the board in general if anyone thinks I am in serious trouble at not getting at least a 55 on the Biology CLEP and I have planned to take in Wed. and use the rest of my time from now until then to further prepare. It would be very helpful if I could get feedback on how to further prepare for the exam from people that have already taken and passed the Biology CLEP if possible... Thanks in advanced for your input! Ready for Biology? Opinions/Advice Please - gcalvin - 12-29-2007 What was your score on the Official CLEP Guide practice exam? I haven't taken the Biology exam myself, but in general, scores on the Official Guide practice exams predict my results on the actual exam pretty well. More importantly, what are your areas of weakness? Rather than more general study, you should try to identify the specific areas that are causing you trouble, and beef up on them. Then just remember your test-taking principles. CLEP in particular rarely uses deceptive questions, so don't outsmart yourself. Take your time, mark and move on if you're not sure, then come back later for the tougher questions. If you have to guess, try to at least eliminate one or two known wrong answers. You probably know all of this already, but it's good to keep reminding yourself. You scored a 68 on the Psychology exam... what had you scored on the practice exam for that one? And how badly do you need a Biology pass? Is it a core requirement for your program? Ready for Biology? Try your skills on an "official" sample exam found in the "official" CLEP guide book. If you do well you should be able to sit the exam - Good Luck! |
