Study.com Practice vs Final Exam - Jimmy999 - 04-05-2018

I'm taking my 1st Study.com course and I'm curious how similar are the practice exams to the final exam ?    I'm slaying the Practice exams with 80% & 90% even though I rushed through the entire course in a 3-4 days.    I don't want to waste 1 of my 2 exams for the month by trying the Final too soon.    Any help would be greatly appreciated from you Study.com veterans.

If you aced the quizzes and are doing good on the practice final then I wouldn't worry about it. I have been getting usually 99 or 100 points on the quizzes. That means I need a 55-56% on the final. I've passed every course so far. I think the lowest I managed on a final is 79%. The practice test have been pretty close to the finals in my experience so far.

Edited to add.... I don't think I would be a veteran but I've done 5 courses of my 6 with the guardian scholorship so far

The practice exams are similar in style and if you're doing well on that you should be fine. The content is not the same, you won't see many (if any) duplicate questions between the two. But the concepts are the same.

Do you know if study takes the final exam questions from any of the quizzes or practice chapter tests?  Or are they all from a totally different pool of questions?

For all the exams I've done on Study.com so far, the questions on the chapter tests appear to be taken directly from the quiz question bank, as are the questions on the practice final exams. The actual final exams appear to be a mixture of the questions from the quizzes plus some questions that were not on the quizzes. In most cases, those additional questions are just quiz questions that have been reworded (i.e., which one of these is NOT the answer) but I'd guess about 10% of the questions are unique.

Either way, I've found that my results on the proctored final exam is generally within a couple of points of what I get on the practice final exam. In many cases it is exactly the same. I've gotten 94-96% on every one I've taken so far, but I tend to overstudy.

I agree with everything said so far. If you're passing the practice final by a wide margin, you will be fine on the proctored final.

History of Vietnam war is highly recommended. I did that one in about 2 days. Just make sure you look at how some of the names are spelled as you listen to them being spoken.

I find myself wondering if for the personal finance final exam we would need to memorize all these formulas. That's a lot of formulas to keep straight.

There are several questions on the final that require some calculations or formula confirmations. The ones I remember coming up are present & future value, simple interest, and effective interest rates. But there may be others I forgot (or weren't on my version of the test.)

Then again, if you've got close to 100% on the quizzes, you only need around 55% on the final exam to pass. If you're able to score well above that on the practice tests, it technically shouldn't matter if you miss a few of the questions regarding formulas.

Oh I didn't realize the quizzes and practice tests count toward the grade. I haven't done any of the practice tests but the quizzes I either got 100% or missed one and got 80%. Looks like you can retake them if you want. Strange that they want you to memorize formulas. They're all so similar that I have a hard time keeping them straight.
