I'm done (again)!! BS IT Security, WGU - jsd - 04-23-2018

A couple of weeks ago I didn't pass CCNA Security by about one question. Today I sat for it again and nailed it! One more certification under my belt... but more importantly, that was my final WGU course for the BS in IT Security program!

About two years ago I completed my first Bachelors, a BA in Psych from TESU, with the help of all of you folks here. Once again I want to thank everyone for their help and support here. Special thanks to Thorne, theonlyski, and a whole bunch of other folks that followed along and gave support in my progress thread.

It's still not "official" until I talk with my student mentor and get my grad application submitted, but all of my coursework is done! I'm hoping I can get the time off work to go to the June graduation ceremony in Las Vegas. I didn't walk for my TESU degree, but I definitely want to for this one. I feel like I put a lot more into this second degree, even though at the same time it was a little smoother/easier because of the schools skills I picked up doing the TESU degree.

I've really enjoyed everything about WGU along the way.

I knocked out all of the Gen Ed stuff block-transfer style with my prior TESU BA, knocked out Organizational Behavior with a free study.com promotion I got where they gave me a month for free, knocked out two more (4 CU each) courses with my A+ certification, and everything else I completed at WGU (and picked up 9 more IT industry certifications on top of my A+ along the way!). I completed a total of 76 CUs at WGU.

I did three terms at WGU, completing 32 credits in Term 1, another 32 in Term 2, and 12 in Term 3. I could have done it in two if I pushed a little more, and easily so if it wasn't for those dang Cisco certifications. My employer is paying almost 100% through tuition reimbursement (which maybe made me a little lazy and okay doing 3 terms instead of 2?).

The breakdown is below.

I wish the B.S. Cybersecurity and Information Assurance was available when I first started, that's a great program.

Good luck knocking it out! Thanks for all of your help along the way while I knocked mine out Smile

RE: I'm done (again)!! BS IT Security, WGU - jsd - 04-24-2018

Thanks everyone!

I said in my original post that i completed it in "three terms," but really my 3rd term started Feb 1st. So I completed it in 2 terms and 2.5 months. So just to reiterate, someone could definitely have knocked this out in 2 terms if they were more disciplined than i was, or if they were transferring more in -- especially if you're transferring in certs. Those are the only courses I spent large amounts of time on. Any non-cert classes can be knocked out in a few weeks at most, and at least one of my courses I knocked out in a single day.
