Chicken Fingers: Who Ripped Off Who? - sanantone - 07-12-2018 I tried Zaxby's and noticed that it's a place that focuses on chicken strips just like Raising Cane's does. Both restaurants even have a special sauce that is basically the same, and they sell crinkled fries, coleslaw, and toast. So, in my quest to find out who ripped off who, I found out about Layne's, Bailey's, and Guthrie's. Guthrie's opened in 1965, but didn't start focusing on chicken fingers until 1978. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guthrie's Zaxby's opened in 1990. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaxby's Layne's opened in 1994. http://www.layneschickenfingers.com/our-story/ Raising Cane's, probably the most famous of them all, opened in 1996. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raising_Cane's_Chicken_Fingers Bailey's Chicken Fingers came soon after Raising Cane's and competed directly with it near the Lousiana State University campus. Raising Cane's drove it out of business. http://www.lsunow.com/cane-s-vs-bailey-s/article_bd13da4d-b5b7-59a6-8a11-cf78be0f77f8.html RE: Chicken Fingers: Who Ripped Off Who? - dfrecore - 07-12-2018 Funny post. Just an FYI, I'm from CA, and have never heard of any of these places. ---------------------------- I lied! We went to a nearby town to see a movie a few weeks ago (the fancy theater with the reclining seats), and they were either building or renovating an older building in a strip mall, and a Raising Cane's was going in. I remember thinking, "what the heck is Raising Cane's?" RE: Chicken Fingers: Who Ripped Off Who? - sanantone - 07-12-2018 (07-12-2018, 01:12 PM)dfrecore Wrote: Funny post. I think Zaxby's and Raising Cane's are mostly spreading in the South right now. They'll eventually get to you, but you aren't missing anything other than the sauce. They aren't on Chick-fil-a's level. (07-12-2018, 01:12 PM)dfrecore Wrote: I lied! RE: Chicken Fingers: Who Ripped Off Who? - cookderosa - 07-12-2018 Zaxby's is in my town (the others mentioned aren't) but it's bad - like really bad. They serve everyone on this Texas Toast soaked in artificial butter flavored oil (think what they squirt on popcorn at the movies) and I'm not sure what a person is supposed to do with it. Eat it? Uh, no. That's not going in my body lol. I think I've only ever seen 1 or 2 cars there. I can't figure out how they stay open here. Most popular fast food here for chicken strips would be Bojangles hands down. We have a "restaurant row" here about 1/2 mile stretch and they all sell chicken strips! Hardees, Zaxby's, Bojangles, KFC, Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, McDonald's, and Cookout. Of course, you put a bone in that chicken and it's friggin WWIII here. That's some serious fighting for bragging rights lol. RE: Chicken Fingers: Who Ripped Off Who? - jsd - 07-12-2018 (07-12-2018, 01:12 PM)dfrecore Wrote: Funny post. Was thinking the same!

They're both overrated, in my opinion. I much prefer Five Guys, but they would be better if they seasoned their patties. They're inedible!! Yuck! |
