I tried to view the DegreeForum wiki today and saw a notice that it was closed.

Huh. From what I'm reading, the wiki either somehow violated the terms of use or it remained dormant for several months without any community members showing interest in taking it over.

That's interesting, a few members updated several pages with their plans after they obtained their degrees. If I had known, I would have asked to "take" over the site and offer updates to it. There were no posts asking if anyone wanted to be an admin or mod for that particular Wiki, there possibly could have been at least a volunteer or two.

I have updated pages recently so it couldn't have been dormancy. I can't imagine what rules we violated...
That's a bummer, I hope there's a way to reactivate it. It was working as of yesterday
I messaged dcan, the person who started the wiki, to see if he got any notice of what happened. I didn't get anythign on my end as an admin.
I've downloaded the wiki pages/history... so hopefully i can find another host that makes it easy to import the files over to if wikia won't let us reactivate.

hey folks, in case we can't get wikia to reactivate it for us, i have a mirror up and running at https://degreeforum.miraheze.org
The only problem is that we lost the history of the pages, we only have the latest copy of each page on this wiki. it'd still be ideal if we can get wikia to get us back up and running, but if not this backup will work very well.
And it looks like no annoying advertisements??

Thanks for the mirror! It doesn't have advertisements but I noticed a few of the links are not working as it's still pointing to the older Wikia site. Overall, it's better than starting from scratch or just a couple of the pages available. Thanks again!

There are a few snapshots on wayback machine that have been archived. One is from 2015 and the rest (3) are from 2017.

I messaged dcan, the primary admin, to see if he has any news or can possibly do anything. I'm guessing not.
But the new wiki might actually work out better for us, without all of the clutter and ads. It just needs a little work to get it working 100%.

The original wikia wiki is back. haven't heard why it was gone or how it came back, but it's back
