Liberal Studies General Coursework won't be filled by BUS or CIS courses? - posabsolute - 08-01-2018

Hey guys,

Getting plan 24 new credits for my BALS with a CS concentration. I'm having some issues with academic advising. I am being told that both study.com International Business and Fundamentals of Information Technology won't fit Liberal Studies General Coursework, I'm left wondering what does fit there?

Screenshot below of my plan:

Business, PE and applied science courses don't fit in liberal studies. What does is English, Math, Science, Humanities, History, Language, Arts, etc... Basically the same sort of stuff that would work in GenEds. Think of academic majors and you've got the idea, so accounting, no; economics, yes.

I see, this makes sense

would POS , SOS and SOC work there too?

Thanks!

Get into your OSS and copy/paste your BSBA AOS courses. Also copy/paste your ASNSM Comp Sci courses. Once done, we can find out what courses would fit into a BALS CS, otherwise the listed courses you have will just get you a BALS but with no concentration. From your screenshot, you have everything but those final two courses. Did you do MIS 301 equivalent course yet? If not, get it done. How about the Saylor Software Engineering course?

Yes, I would expect PoliSci, Sociology, and Social Science courses to all work. I left one major category, Humanities, off my Liberal Studies list above.

Business courses can not be used as general education electives in any degree plan. CIS courses work but the course you listed doesn't transfer in as a CIS course, it does transfer in as a CMP course which is rated or weighted differently.

For my BALS, I am done with a general BALS without a concentration, I took the Study.com History courses as they overlap and some "easier" UL courses. However, I am looking to change that into a BALS NSM mainly using CS/CIS courses, so I am taking the UL courses at Study.com the same as you!

These are the courses I am using towards my BALS NSM - I just sent them in a moment ago to get pre-approved.
