Website to see CC courses. - Danielp - 08-09-2018

Hello,

Are there websites, where can I see all courses offered in a specific state for Community Colleges? Or something similar. I know it is very unlikely, but I'm looking for a cheap out-of-state community college.

no way

there are probably 1000s of community colleges in each state

you can find some for New York here https://navigator.suny.edu/courses

but those are only community colleges that are part of the SUNY (State University of New York)
there are still hundreds of community colleges in New York that won't be listed there

Just an FYI, there probably aren't thousands of CC's in each state - CA only has 113, so I'm guessing everyone else has fewer than that. AZ has 21. But there are too many to list.

Your best bet is always an in-state school, as prices are usually better- BUT that's assuming that your state has inexpensive CC's. If they don't, then your next best bet is probably NM - NMJC has great rates for out-of-state students ($69/cr if I'm not mistaken).

If it's any help, if you live in CA, prices are the same at all CC's (all 110 that are semester-based anyway): $46/cr. For out of state residents, it's a lot more, but I'm not sure how much (like more than $100/cr in addition to the $46 rate). Not worth looking at.

I would go for New Mexico Junior College for what you’re looking for. Review here and compare the tuition. Note that the pricing isn’t updated but most of the info is correct. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sources_of_Credit

Not thousands, but there are about 12,000 in all.
In 10 years the only way I've done it is to visit each website and then go into their catalog. Of course, that changes each semester....so, you might want to brew some coffee.
But, lucky for you, the cheapest out of state tuition will come from the state of New Mexico, so that narrows it down a lot!

Ok, where is everyone coming up with the "thousands" and 12,000 numbers? When I do a search on "how many community colleges in the US", I get 1,462, with about 1,000 public and the rest private. What am I missing?

Michigan has a web site that collates all of the online classes that are available. It is here:

https://www.micollegesonline.org/

My wife used this site during the early 2000s to find odd classes when she was transferring her teaching certificate from Wisconsin to Michigan.

Michigan is not a particularly cheap state for out-of-state community college classes. I would assume that other states have databases like this, but maybe not.

RE: Website to see CC courses. - MNomadic - 08-10-2018

And here is a database for Maricopa community colleges(which is the majority of AZ community colleges) including Rio Salado:
http://classes.sis.maricopa.edu

I agree with others, if you live in the states, it's best to explore the options in your state. The next best options for most out of state colleges would be NMJC(and other NM colleges) followed by Rio Salado (a little more expensive for out of state but more flexible to schedule).

BTW, the fact that there is no national database of community college classes with easy click-through registration is really dumb. I think that I will run for president and that will be my only issue.

LOL sorry 1200 not 12000. (which apparently isn't even right) Comma schmomma. Oh well ;p
