TESU Diversity - mysonx3 - 09-17-2018

What are your favorite options for the "Diversity" Gen Ed requirement at TESU? I had initially planned on using Introductory Sociology for this, but now looking at potentially doing a plan that uses that as part of a Sociology AoS. Curious what other people have used for this.

General Anthropology DSST will work:

You can also look at this list:

There are 2 free courses on Sophia, worth 1 cr each. 'Developing effective Teams' and 'Essentials of Managing conflict'. Are they accepted by TESU and if so, which requirements would they fulfill?

I haven't transferred them in yet myself, but I'm told from multiple sources on this forum that "Essentials of Managing Conflict" transfers as SOS-240 (which counts as a Gen Ed elective) and "Developing Effective Teams" transfers as HRM-299 (which counts as a Free Elective)

One is a Gen Ed and the other is a Business (or Free Elective), they don't actually fulfill any area in particular requirement category.

I used 'Intro to World Religions' to meet the requirement.

Will it not serve the Oral Communication requirements? Bcos there is so much being taught about non-verbal communication, effective communication etc.

Nice! I wondered if this might meet the requirement because it sounds like a really interesting subject to take, but the DSST version wasn't on TESU's list of DSST's that meet this requirement (only General Anthropology was). Who did you take it through?

SOS-240
Conflict Resolution

HRM-299
Special Topics in H R M

They are both one credit each so won't fulfill any requirement on their own

No, they will not.

I took it through Study.com, but I know it is available through a few different sources. I enjoyed it, it was interesting and I learned things I did not know  - hence it increased my understanding in the areas of Diversity! Smile

This is a good page to get topic/course ideas of what will meet what category requirements for TESU https://www.tesu.edu/academics/courses/2016-and-after2
