U of The People - New M.Ed - harrypotter - 10-16-2018 University of the People launches new Master of Education program! https://www.uopeople.edu/programs/ed/degrees/master-of-education-med/ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - MNomadic - 10-16-2018 Nice! Glad to see them expanding their offerings. RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - jsd - 10-16-2018 I'm not familiar with how elementary/high school teaching works... is NA generally acceptable at that level? RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - eriehiker - 10-16-2018 No. Not generally. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - MNomadic - 10-16-2018 If I were to guess, I'd say it may be more targeted towards some foreign countries that don't care about NA vs RA. RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - cookderosa - 10-16-2018 I've talked about this with a friend who is in education, but not in the public k-12 system. She is an ESL teacher. I think a program like this fits the niche for a handful of people, but I tend to agree that it's probably targeted toward non-USA teachers. Still, I think there are some ways to make this work IF you're on a track that won't ever require an RA masters. RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - sanantone - 10-17-2018 This is a good option for teachers in developing countries. For teachers in the U.S., it's hard to beat WGU. RE: U of The People - New M.Ed - nykorn - 09-08-2023 I agree, ESL abroad almost never requires RA, but a degree in Education itself is like gold in the industry. Many applicants don't even have TEFL certificates or experience let alone a teaching degree. However note it's a MASTER'S in Education. You can teach at public schools in most US states with just a RA BACHELOR'S, so that your Master's is NA no longer matters because the BA is what qualifies you. |
