What are the current (11/2018) TESU Non-Western Literature alternatives available? - pws - 11-17-2018

From what I've researched so far, most used to take the Chinese Literature in Translation - Poetry course at BYU-IS, however, it's not listed on their website anymore and the Google search URL brings up a 404 page.

What are the current/the best TESU Non-Western Literature alternative courses available to take?

you can take Non-Western Lit or African Encounters direct from TESU. I'm currently doing an English degree from TESU and that's the best I could find. None of the alternatives looked palatable to me at all, and with Shmoop gone you need UL courses now anyway

On my spreadsheet I have College of DuPage's Non-Western Lit as a course, for $483.  Not sure of the price, it's been a while since I updated that one.

EDIT: I just looked, it's $136/cr for online courses, plus a fee.

When I first heard of that course at College of DuPage, about a year ago, I had already missed enrollment for that term. Then it wasn't available the next terms. I'm not sure if they offer it anymore. Google says it used to have a page at http://www.cod.edu/course/information/ENGLI2262/index.html

There should be some courses available for around $750.

They have some interesting online English courses not found anywhere else:
  • ENGLI 1160 Native American Literature
  • ENGLI 2110 Professional Editing
  • ENGLI 2226 Masterpieces of World Literature
  • ENGLI 2261 Writing for Publication

I just checked a whole bunch of their standard/offline courses (they're hidden in 'Course descriptions' for some reason) and they have no UL courses whatsoever (it only goes up to 28xx). Do they have a different course code system, or they don't offer in-class UL courses there at all?

The COD course comes in at TESU as lower level because it is from a community college. We had to get pre-approval for it to qualify for the requirement and needed an extra UL lit course.

that being the case, what people should be asking is "where am I going to get another UL Lit course?"

Study.com has 1. Coopersmith has 1. You need 4.

So, to me, you might as well just bite the bullet and take an UL non-Western lit from TESU. You're going to need an UL anyway

If it's just UL courses you need, there are the five $200 poetry courses from Harvard Extension. The only downside is that they are on a regular semester schedule and not quick to do.

Unfortunately, 3 are over, but there are still 2 left. BEST DEAL EVER.

Yeah, those Harvard courses look great (4 credits and possible as graduate credits as well!). At the moment, there is a LL course and an UL course, however, the UL course is called 'Poetry in America for Teachers'. Does anyone know if it's open only for teachers, or it's open for everyone?
