Natural Science Labs - YankeeDoodle - 12-08-2018
Is it possible for me to get the credits for a natural sciences lab course through some way other than going to a college or am I just gonna have to bite the bullet?

There are a couple of ways. A few Study.com and StraighterLine classes have labs. Another (a bit more pricy) option is the chemistry course through Arizona State's Earned Admission program, which is an option if having a grade in the class matters to you (doesn't sound like it will)

Cheapest option is study.com bio 101 w/lab. Normal price of a course plus $40 for access to the labster virtual lab. Ed4credit and StraighterLine have a few lab courses as well but you buy a physical lab kit that's upwards of $100.

I have always felt that labs should be done on campus. There is a significant difference in titrating online versus titrating in an actual lab. There are a lot of human variables that are eliminated with online labs in my opinion.

I don’t think there are many options for alternative credits in the science/lab area but there’s a good amount of colleges and universities offering these online & not to sound blunt but a simple google search with “online chemistry course with lab” will return a nice list of results. You may want to put “community college” at the end of the at search if you’re looking for affordable courses. I know Rio Salado College, Edukan, Sinclair College are just a few of many colleges.
P.S. you might want to also follow another college forum just like this one called Allnurses, a place for pre-nursing who need to fulfill prerequisites for nursing programs. I considered majoring in nursing once and took a couple of online science courses with labs via Minnesota State & Tech College’s.

True but most people here, who may not be going into a science field, just want to fill a requirement. On campus labs, while better in a lot of ways, are lacking in convenience. Also, price is a factor.

If you need a B&M school option (graded and RA) I can recommend Clovis CC (NM) http://www.clovis.edu/ for a Bio w/lab via their online courses - I used them back when I was looking at Charter Oak (COSC) and before I knew about SL and Study.com.

YankeeDoodle, because you're going for a Charter Oak State degree in Early Childhood Education, they only require two science courses. You can take the easiest two from Study.com, Nutrition, and Biology with Lab. Those are the 7 credits you require.

All the talk of B&M labs and allnurses for someone who doesn't want to be a nurse or go into the medical field is way overboard. Talk of graded credits is also irrelevant to your goal. Just take these 2 courses and be done with it. Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be.
Hey everyone, if you read the OP's original post, he/she wants to get a degree from COSC in Early Childhood Development. No need for graded credits, no need for B&M classes, no need to go to another forum. We're supposed to be trying to make things EASIER for people, not harder!
