The survey found that 71 percent of HR officials have hired someone with a degree or credential that the employee earned completely online. However, 39 percent of respondents viewed online credentials as being second class, saying they are generally lower quality than those completed in person. Yet more than half (52 percent) said they believe that in the future, most advanced degrees will be earned online.

And I'm going to guess 90% of HR officials have no idea whether a degree was earned online or in person- that they are totally guessing based on the name of the college. (University of Pheonix = online)
100% of the University of North Carolina's 17 public universities and 58 community colleges offer online degrees. 100% also offer degrees on campus. No way they know the difference without asking.

Yeah, I was going to say that how could they possibly know if a degree is earned online or in person? They may think they know based only on the school name (for instance if a school only offers online degrees), but there's really no other way to know.

And, they probably erroneously think that some schools are 100% online. Even after University of Phoenix started offering online programs, most of their students were on campus for a long time.
